Sam's Town (Abbey Road Version) Lyrics

Nobody ever had a dream 'round here
But I don't really mind that it's starting to get to me
Nobody ever pulls the seams 'round here
But I don't really mind that it's starting to get to me
I've got this energy beneath my feet
Like something underground's gonna come up and carry me
I've go this sentimental heart that beats
But I don't really mind that it's starting to get to me now

So why do you waste my time
Is the answer
To the question on your mind
And I'm sick of all my judges
So scared of what they'll find
But I know that I can make it
As long as somebody takes me home
Every now and then

Have you ever seen the light
Have you ever seen the light

I took a shuttle on a shockwave ride
When people on the pan
Pull a trigger for accolades
I took a bullet and I looked inside
And running through my veins
An American masquerade
I still remember Grandma Dixie's wake
I've never really known anybody that died before
Red, white, and blue upon a birthday cake
My brother he was born on the Fourth of July and that's all

So why do you waste my time
Is the answer
To the question on your mind
And I'm sick of all my judges
They're so scared of lettin' me shine
But I know that I can make it
As long as somebody takes me home

Every now and then
Every now and then

You know, I see London
I see Sam's Town
Holds my hand out
Lets my hair down
Rolls that world right
Off my shoulder
I see London
I see Sam's Town
Now

I think in this version of the song, he sounds sad about his situation--a small town with little hope to get out. In the original version, he sounds angry. The character has the right to feel both angry and sad about his situation, hence the different versions.

I didn't really like the whole mood of the original, and it was distracting from the meaning of the song, so I'm so glad they did this one. I can concentrate now, and it seems so much more powerful than the original... like it should be. But, the original will never die, because it is the original.

Love Brandon's vocals in this. So ...(can't think of any possible word that would do them justice).

peace, --Mari

I prefer this version to that on Sam's Town.

Although they're the same lyrics, the less produced sound of this version make the song a bit more meaningful and touching.

My Opinion

well... same lyrics as the original... but how awsome is this song?

both versions give a completely different feeling but they are both great in their own right.

Yes, I understand these lyrics are the same as the original, I poseted them to give the fans a chance to talk about this one seperated from the other one, just for some seperation. Enjoy folks.
