Dirty Looks Lyrics
If we make love
Would it be a mistake?
But the aftermath
Be hard to take
For the knots we tied
Come undone
Have you heard?
Have you heard?
[Have you heard?]
Have you heard?
Have you heard?
[Have you heard?]
There's a man dressed up like an ancient bird
And he's setting his guitar
On fire
Every mutiny
Begins with the cooks
Every queen cheats on the king with the rooks
Every nuclear war begins with two
Dirty looks
I know my s**t from shinola
I'm tired of eating your stale grenola
And I... know a bloodbath when I see one
Have you seen?
Have you seen?
[Have you seen?]
Have you seen?
Have you seen?
[Have you seen?]
There's a man dressed up like a flaming queen
And he's helping San Francisco
Fall in love
Every problem can be solved by burning books
Every saviour is crucified next to crooks
Every human being starts with two
Naughty looks
Would it be a mistake?
But the aftermath
Be hard to take
For the knots we tied
Come undone
Have you heard?
[Have you heard?]
Have you heard?
[Have you heard?]
And he's setting his guitar
On fire
Begins with the cooks
Every queen cheats on the king with the rooks
Every nuclear war begins with two
Dirty looks
I'm tired of eating your stale grenola
And I... know a bloodbath when I see one
Have you seen?
[Have you seen?]
Have you seen?
[Have you seen?]
And he's helping San Francisco
Fall in love
Every saviour is crucified next to crooks
Every human being starts with two
Naughty looks

Woo!
It's a song that shows how big things are started from the small, an usurping spawning within the ranks of the kitchen staff, an all-out war between countries just because of a moral disagreement of no real significance. Or how what we bolster and praise to be so significant is really just like so many other things, saviors having the same fate as crooks, or a Queen committing adultery like a commoner might.
The above acts are being compared to the act of taking a relationship to the "next level", comparing the outcome of such a thing to what the outcome of other small, or insignificant items or acts have created.
