Actually, this is an interesting song by the awesome Detroit rockers. The use of anaphora in the phrase "My people need a place to Go!" is great, and suggests to me a deeper meaning to the song.
This is the phrase that Moses spoke to the Pharoah (or, it may have been to God) that began the journey towards the freedom of the Israelites.
If we take this to be true (which, I warn you, may be incorrect as this is just personal judgement without any sources to back me up) then the song may be about the modern conflict of Christianity and Capitalism in the form of the McDonalds super-chain.
Just as Philemon_Crowley had said, except I would like to add that the leader is (quite obviously) the fictional Ronell McDonall. But it's an Electric Six song, so assuming a parody of a fictional character is real isn't much of a stretch, heh.

i think its about a woker at mcadonalds who is insain from working there to long leaving him the ilussion that there is a leader that is forcing him to stay when hes really just insain. but mainly because the idea of a mcdonalds employey in the fetal position "We cannot leave the mcdonalds, we love the mcdonals, the mcdonals keeps us safe, we must not anger the leader, the leader must have a place, the leader is sacry" amuses me

I think this just might be one of those. But either way, it's gorram awesome!
Worker is closing the restaurant, people show up at closing time to commence drinking.
The night shift at "McDonnellzzz" ends and just as the lock up a "gang" shows up and demands that they keep the place open.
But Dick Valentine is a little ambiguous: "The leader's gonna make you party Preventing you from departing The leader is the party The party is the leader's mind"
So it sounds like the "leader" is only one guy, a psycho, that's harassing the night shift guys.
