Q&A
This Bastard Disease Lyrics
I'm not sure who to confide in any more about you.
Nobody can say. Nobody can explain
from here - where to?
I want to protect you.
I want to kill this bastard disease,
but it will not talk to me.
On good days
it's fair to say your face lights up for me.
You still remind me of all that once did bind,
of all the little happy things.
I want to protect you.
I want to kill this bastard disease,
but it will not talk to me.
Nobody can say. Nobody can explain
from here - where to?
I want to kill this bastard disease,
but it will not talk to me.
it's fair to say your face lights up for me.
You still remind me of all that once did bind,
of all the little happy things.
I want to kill this bastard disease,
but it will not talk to me.

It sounds to me like her lover is an alcoholic, and she believes the disease model of alcoholism. I don't, but that's the way I read the song - and it touches me. It is very beautiful. I really like her unaccompanied version.
i think it's about someone very close to her that has amnesia and cannot remember her love for them
It's about her father, who had dementia or Alzheimer's or something, from the perspective of her mother
