Between the Tea and the Toast Lyrics
Oh pretty love, aren't you worried about us?
How we're going to keep it up,
all of this busy business?
Of all the days we've ever had,
it is these quiet days that leave me satisfied the most, when our holy ghosts
have room to dance
between the tea and the toast.
Oh gentle man, you say love's a simple land
and I've wondered from the map.
Are you gonna take me back?
How we're going to keep it up,
all of this busy business?
it is these quiet days that leave me satisfied the most, when our holy ghosts
have room to dance
between the tea and the toast.
and I've wondered from the map.
Are you gonna take me back?

I like how it's melodic and sad... a relationship that's falling apart... the girl has wandered away... I guess she's tired of the relationship. Either she needs some time to think it through, the whole 'taking some time off is healthy' kind of thing. Or she doesn't want to do it anymore.
i heard it was about two people in a relationship, and they slowly lose interest as they grow old together.....through the everyday mundaneness of life ("between the tea and the toast"), they lose that special "spark".

They prefer it when things are simple and not busy and stressful. It doesn't sound to me like they're over
