I believe this song describes a person going through a depression, and thinking about committing suicide. He is trying to avoid a particular something that is happening in his life, such as a troubled relationship, family problems, or etc. He has hope, but that is not enough for what is going on, and everything begins to get very repetitive. He sees all of these individuals who, to him, are just like him, which bogs him down deeper into his depression.
