You Dress Up For Armageddon Lyrics
Hey believe me, I have seen your sort before.
You're all over history like dust on the kitchen floor - tell me more.
Your lips are moving, you go on and on and on and on and on.
You swing your rod, rod baby rod, rod but don't swing it at me.
Cuz it's not for me, no I dissagree.
Cuz I heard you before when you said
there is a hole in your heart and it's bleeding.
You dress up for Armageddon,
I dress up for summer.
Yeah!
Hey and now you got their attention
You know, you gotta keep 'em believing
But as a matter of fact, what they believe you're not
believing no more - Tell tell tell tell tell tell me more.
I hear you're one in a million - tell me more.
But there's a million of you - tell, tell me more.
You swing your rod, rod baby rod, rod but don't swing it at me.
It's not for me, no I dissagree.
Cuz I heard you before when you said
There is a hole in your heart and it's bleeding.
You dress up for Armageddon,
I dress up for summer.
Who is that man with the microphone?
Today he's here but tomorrow he is gone.
But it's not for me no I dissagree.
Cuz I heard you before when you said
There is a hole in your heart and it's bleeding.
You dress up for Armageddon,
I dress up for summer.
You feel tortured and filled with regret.
You say life is void of meaning.
Are they not sick of you yet?
Man that's such, man that's such a bummer.
You're all over history like dust on the kitchen floor - tell me more.
Your lips are moving, you go on and on and on and on and on.

I see it as an attack on the melodramatic emo bands of today. But I wouldn't be surprised if that was just me reflecting my own wishes on the song.
this is my new drinking song. absolutely love it.
i was basically on the same page as moodylupin though. all about those people that are way too into themselves/over-dramatic. i don't know if it was written specifically about emo, but it sure does fit and make total sense. proof of hives genius, yes?
I agree with what's been added previously. But I also wonder if the song is also a commentary on artists that put a huge production into their show with pyrotechnics, lasers, big costume changes, that sort of thing to hide their lack of singing and/or musical talent?
That's what I was thinking... That it was about the emo kids or something... And the thing with the emo band fits in a bit better.
This is one of my favorites from the new CD. I though this song was about people that are overly dramatic, who try to make a show out of everything and he's just the opposite and doesn't want to hear it. But I like this 'emo bands' idea. It fits too, especially the part about 'who is that man with the microphone' bit. If it is, then it is genius, which means that I wouldn't put it pass these guys, as they ARE geniuses! =D
of course they are geniouses, they are THE HIVES!!!! I do think it is about emo kid's though, "Cuz I heard you before when you said there is a hole in your heart and it's bleeding"....thats what emo kids say!
Who is that man with the microphone? Today he's here but tomorrow he is gone.
perhaps a reference to kurt cobain?
