Your Poppa Don't Mind Lyrics
Give it a whirl, give it a try
Why don't you sleep out, stop livin' high
You're on your own, you're makin' bed
No time for wastin', just look ahead.
Your poppa don't mind what you do or say
You can't surprise him anymore
He's got a reputation and he don't look back
Your poppa don't mind at all.
You're gettin' old, it's gettin' late
It's soon tomorrow, so celebrate
Bring it out, go to town
Before you're thinking of settling down.
Your poppa don't mind what you do or say
You can't surprise him anymore
He don't believe in livin' like a good man should
Your poppa don't mind at all
Oooooh!
Findin' out is half the fun
When you find out, don't try to run
If you know, then you'll be gone
But if you don't know, it's still to come.
Your poppa don't mind what you do or say
You can't surprise him anymore
He talks about his women and his old school times
Your poppa don't mind at all
Your poppa don't mind what you do or say
You can't surprise him anymore
He don't believe in livin' like a good man should
Your poppa don't mind at all
Your poppa don't mind at all
Your poppa don't mind at all
Why don't you sleep out, stop livin' high
You're on your own, you're makin' bed
No time for wastin', just look ahead.
You can't surprise him anymore
He's got a reputation and he don't look back
Your poppa don't mind at all.

Great song from Indelibly Stamped, the most rock n roll styled album from Supertramp. What I see in the lyrics is a young man trying to attract a girl from a more conservative class of society. He's trying to introduce her a different world, and to do some 'exploring'. Not sure though
