Pigs Is Pigs Lyrics

Oh Lord, I am saved
Judge says I am fit to swing
'Bout time, I have prayed my woman just might wear my ring
Oh you know I'm no good,
You know I'm no good at court ordered goodbyes
But when I'm gone you'll see I'll be a better man yet
For the dispossessed get taken back into your arms
Better keep me close to your heart
You'd better keep me close to your heart
The divine had me cornered in a storm and it let me walk out the front door at the scene of the crime
Hang 'em high, keep your vows brief
Let him swing, make his swindle an art
and if you still believe that men guilty of love can survive, then hang 'em high or not at all
Oh you know it gets hard
It just gets so hard going limp in your arms
I am clutching a smoking gun
there is no chance of me walking out of here alive
This is all very literal
I can't bring myself around to write an excuse this time
We're liberated by the hearts that imprison us
We're taken hostage by the ones that we break
Throw the book
You had me strung up by the table and you put me back
Hang 'em high
Keep your vows brief
Let 'em swing
Make his swindle an art
If you still believe that men guilty of love can survive, then hang 'em high or not at all
Where did you get the privilege to pardon me?

it's: we're liberated by the hearts that imprison us we're taken hostage by the ones that we break

this is a statement that for me embodies the ironic nature of most relationships. the feeling i gathered from the second line is that when we leave someone and hurt them, our experiences and mistakes will haunt us forever. we can never get back what we once had, and therefore we can never let it go. yet, on the other hand as expressed in the first line, we feel especially carefree and detached when we have a relationship, when someone has control over our hearts. it's the dichotomy that is most relationships, if you can understand what i'm trying to convey.

Can anyone give me a good meaning of what this line means?

"Were liberated by the hearts that are prisoners were taken hostage by the ones that we break "

I've been thinking about it and every time i get a good explanation i come back to it and get something else.

i definitely feel that it's about going back and forth to/from a relationship. it falling apart. also verbal or physical abuse playing a major role.. also getting away with the two. having her/him take the spouse back so easily. just a vicious cycle basically. then trying to make it honest with a wedding when it's only bound to fail again. doomed from the start. just read it over. it'll make sense. and if not, then that's just my personal opinion.

This song is about killing his wife, or fiance and getting away with it

He killed his wife, but he isn't getting away with it in the typical sense. He's being put to death but he considers it a good thing, because he's being given freedom from love. Love is the prison that he's already been living in, and he considers it a "crime".

"We're liberated by the hearts that imprison us We're taken hostage by the ones that we break"

Here's the way I take this... Ironic. The only way we can seek happiness or emotional comfort is by embracing love, and we're forced to do so-- we can't live without love, it's our prison sentence for being human and alive. And when we hurt someone, the guilt never leaves us, because his/her pain stays with us as well.

Overall the song attributes love to guilt. We are forced to love but it is (implied to be) impossible to do so without committing a crime, the sentence of which is to live with the guilt. The only freedom is death. A pretty heavy allegory.

wow......you are an idiot what do you think he means........ a goddamn swing set?

no, being an idiot would be not asking a question at all/automatically assuming that your way of thinking about something is the only right way. or, being condescending to random people for absolutely no reason.
