Mouth of Ghosts Lyrics
Our trust runs out tonight
Everything we said dissolves
And now we say our last goodbye
Nothing to resolve
I never imagined you'd turn into this
But then the end was always close
We could feel it all along
Don't you know where
We could hide the lies
You were a mouth without a heart
An action without meaning
And you walk afraid
Reaching for the hands that turned closed
Everything we said dissolves
And now we say our last goodbye
Nothing to resolve
I never imagined you'd turn into this
But then the end was always close
We could feel it all along
Don't you know where
We could hide the lies
You were a mouth without a heart
An action without meaning
And you walk afraid
Reaching for the hands that turned closed

just my opinion: first few lines are kinda obvious, a relationship is winding down and coming to a close. "then the end was always close, we could feel it all along" i think means that they always knew the relationship wouldn't go anywhere but only now is he beginning to realise that he doesnt want it to anyway because the person is selfish and hurtful. "i never imagined you'd turn in to this" and "you were a mouth without a heart, an action without meaning" are linked - the narrator has started to realise that this person says and does things without thinking about the consequences or who it could hurt. the last two lines i think mean the person is scared because they "reach for hands" that they have previously turned away. in other words expecting help from people they haven't/wouldn't help themselves and not receiving it. it could be about a specific thing like the person cheating on them or it could be a more general overview of how the person is really self centred and thoughtless.
P.S to saviorsalvation - ive been looking on a lot of DEP songs and all i have to say is stop posting on songs you dont like to make yourself look clever and rebelious. bear in mind that most people only look at songs they like so the majority of people reading your comments will disagree with you. but then again i suppose thats the point of your comments, to disagree with people so you can feel special. anyway just give it up
I just found out (i think) the meaning of "hands that turned closed". They are fists. Fists shown to whoever provoked that anger, the one who walks afraid after being a person that said things just for the sake of saying; without heart or meaning to it. Sounds like a personal message...

well i dont think the song was attended to have strong lyrics. most of it is instrumental and sounds as if DEP wanted the sounds of the instruments to make the song strong in general not the lyrics... but thats just an opinion..
It's about time for Dillinger to add some piano.
Continually evolving and breaking new ground...
Kind of drawing away from that insane hardcoreness though... I'm not complaining though. This song rocks.
The title Mouth of Ghosts makes me think someone's been running their mouth
"You were a mouth without a heart" talking shit without thinking about who you're hurting.
Everything else pointsto being cheated on; "trust runs out" "nothing to resolve" "never imagined you'd turn into this" "an action without meaning" ... You get the point :)
I agree with captain hook. The instruments are what makes this song for me, as the lyrics seem pretty disjointed when you actually listen to them. It's not as hardcore as much of their previous work, but that doesn't stop this song being incredible.
This is a great song. I really think the instruments are what makes it so good as others said. I think this album's (Ire Works) greatest strengths are being able to combine DEP's insane mathcore style with some jazz and rock influences, seamlessly.
these lyrics are like 10 year old panties; kinda weak
