I agree with "resiliency amazes me." I think this song is about two people who love each other but are apart and have been through a lot together. One person is trying to make themselves love someone they are not in love with. The other is trying to not love someone they actually are in love with.
Then they both realized they loved each other, but it was too late.

I found this song through the movie I Love You Phillip Morris and it is amazing. The song, I mean. It's so beautiful and just utterly simple.
i think the whole song revolves around how once one is not longing after the other (or "resilient"), the other person becomes interested because they can no longer have them.
