It's about a guy who always messes up a relationship or just talking to a girl in general, strikes out with girls, whatever. He tries, fails "seen this a thousand times and i've been here before" Maybe he's afraid of getting to close, 'if you get to close i'm gonna hurt you' or has trust issues and doesn't like to get close to people.

uhm i think this song is about a guy who tries to make things right in relationships but is always bombing things or things dont work out the way as planned but he means well and tries to fix things. and he knows b4 hand in a relationshp that he will end up hurting them but he doesnt mean to "'if you get to close i'm gonna hurt you' "
