Beautiful song. The meaning is pretty clear to me, a still-born infant. Spoken from the mother's (or at least one of the parents, just seems maternal due to the female vocals) point of view, this song is about the child's struggle to survive and how much said child means to the speaker.

the baby is not still born - there is hope - i picture a mother holding her newborn in a neonate ICU - lots of them pull through so i prefer to think it may have a happy end - better that way.
