I love this song, I see the story as, when you're in love with someone so much that it frustrates you to the point where you become impossible to be around, but you don't know how to change...I dunno, just my view on it!
i think its about young love like the promises they made and about how they are growing up and have to part ways for the best, even though they dont really want to. its over before they met because thats the way it always happens.
I agree with heyjanaa for the most part, but the part starting with "See, you are waiting" kinda makes it seem like hope for the relationship, so in a sense, it could be that he's torn between staying with someone and leaving them.
to me this songs shows me of a time when someone would have a friends with benefits kind of thing but both would always want a relationship but they never want to ruin what the have.. so they stop everything. it's over before they met.
