Clinging On For Life Lyrics

I need you to reach me
Teach me how to love
I need you to reach me
Teach me how to love

'Cos I must have got it wrong
If I had love then it's gone
I've been living without it for oh so long
And that's the way it goes
I suppose

Made enough mistakes
Between two of us to sing this thing
We're still clinging on for life
Made enough mistakes
Between two of us to sing this thing
We're still clinging on for life

I need you to reach me
Teach me how to love
I need you to reach me
Teach me how to love

Must have got it wrong
If I had love then it's gone
I've been living without it for oh so long
And that's the way it goes
I suppose

Made enough mistakes
Between two of us to sing this thing
We're still clinging on for life
Made enough mistakes
Between the two of us to sing this thing
We're still clinging on for life

And I must have got it wrong
If I had love then it's gone
I've been living without it for oh so long
And that's the way it goes
When your head but can suppose
And instead of answers
It's full of 'I don't know's
And that's the way it goes
I suppose

I can relate to this song, it reminds me of somebody.

It seems that it's about a couple, who do love each other, underneath all the turmoils in their relationship. It seems to be talking of a man who cannot, or finds it difficult to love, or at least to show it. The man has realised that he's pushed his love away, and wants her back, but he doesn't know how to go about it. He's screaming out for help, but is either to frightened, or to proud to ask for it. In the end, he gives in, and accepts that nothing's going to happen, because of his apprehensive attitude towards love and relationships.

Hoosiers are fantastic. (:

Even though everywhere I've read says that the lyrics is, "Between the two of us to SING this thing," even on their own website, it sounds to me as if the lyric is "sink" instead. It doesn't sound like his "ing"s on "living" or "thing", where he occasionally leaves of the "g" part of the sound, often times making a more "in'" sound. Based on that observation of his singing style, I do not find it surprising that the first repeat of the first chorus he drops the "k", making it more of a "sin'" than even "sing" or "sink". The "k" sound on the second repeat of the first chorus and both repeats on the second chorus are inexplicable and irreconcilable with his style of leaving off the last consonant in "ing" "ink" and presumably the other three letter suffixes of similar a phonetic. There is always the chance that I somehow pirated a unique bootleg and not the official song, but this is not the case as I have compared it with multiple versions on youtube and other media streaming services. Not only is "sink" the correct lyric according to listening, but it makes the song make more sense. Who ever heard of the expression, "to sing this thing"? It makes no sense outside of the context of a song. That's not the way The Hoosiers write their lyrics, they could make sense even out of context. The expression "to sink this thing" is much more common and makes sense.

I recommend that this lyric be changed.
