puke I think Chris gave up on writing lyrics. How does "I feel like all the stars are falling inside my heart" even begin to compare to something like "you've become a ghost, you're floating somewhere in between the waking world and a landscape of dreams"?
I love Saves the Day to death, and I like the new album, but Chris' lyrical genius peaked at In Reverie. Under the Boards is filled with shallow, cliché, literal verses that pale in comparison to the deep, sorrowful, metaphoric lyrics of previous works. It's difficult to listen to this album knowing how utterly sublime StD can be.

i dunno why this guy is puking. i'd actually forgotten about saves the day, for the longest time. i heard this song and i realized how strong that vocal melody is, especially for the chorus. i think that this chris guy's pop sensibility is spot on, especially in this song. i'll have to listen to the rest of the album, now.

I use to listen to saves the day years back and this song reminded me how grand they are.
The new album definitely highlights their musical ability and Chris' ability to sing.
It does not, however, highlight his skill for composing lyrics. His lyrics used to be haunting, metaphorical, and transcendent. On this album they are simply literal.
