I think the song is about her finding a love she never had before, from when their relationship first started she knew nothing could compare. And for some reason she has to leave that person (maybe moving away or something) but she doesn't want it to be the end of their relationship, and feels that she wont let go of the love they share.
I met someone (who happened to be a backpacker), and this song reminds me of our situation so much. I only knew him for four weeks, and even though it was such a short time we had together, it felt like i'd known him forever. Every line in the song is perfect for our situation. "Stranger in this Lonely town" and "now fate is pulling me, away from you". x
the music video for the song makes sense in away for it being actually what the song is really about. i love this song so badly XD
