This won't hurt more than a pinch.
So just pour a drink.
Lets talk it over.
I'm back after all these years.
Don't be afraid my dear.
Now I'm older.

Cause people change.
Can't you see my eyes.
Are they not the same after the lies?
I know I'm like a machine.
But I still have dreams.
I know one day we will

Sleep for days.
Come over, come over.
I won't make the same mistakes.
Come over, come over.
I'm dying not to hurt you.
In our dreams, we can be complete again.

When you were young, you kept a list.
Of the things you'd miss, as you got older.
I've known you, in every life I've lived.
Yeah, I'm still a kid.
Even though I'm colder.

When you were a child.
I was lost in the wild, but you built a home for me in the road.
I was born the cold.
Turn up the heat.
I know one day we will

Sleep for days.
Come over, come over.
I won't make the same mistakes.
Come over, come over.
I'm dying not to hurt you.
In our dreams, we can be complete.
If we go to sleep, we can wake up home again.

Come on over again.

Sleep for days.
Come over, come over.
I won't make the same mistakes.
Come over, come over.
I'm dying not to hurt you.

Sleep for days.
Come over, come over.
I won't make the same mistakes.
Come over, come over.
I'm dying not to hurt you.

In our dreams we can be complete.
If we go to sleep, we can wake up home again.

Come over, come over.
Come over, come over

It sounds like...he wants to start over. He's reminiscing about all the bad stuff that happened, and if they do one thing they can start all over again. I dont know, i'm probably not making much sense. haha

Sounds like its about a friendship that failed because the narrator was too much of a day dreamer.

its all in the title "one day robots will cry" he doesnt feel anything; no emotion "i know i'm like a machine." but he wants to feel something, hence "will cry"

i think it also has to do w/ the fact that he wants to start over w/ a relationship that he had and they only place it could work is in his dreams and thats why he wants to be sleeping all the time.

It's rather obviously about being a psychopath. He can't really love or care, but he wants to, you know? Wants that kind of happiness. The "a child only colder" is a reference to narcissism I believe, often referred to as adults that are still children at heart, as every child is a narcissist, and narcissism is a key point of psychopathy.

And about the dreaming and sleeping and all that catie ness posted, yeah.

Well, yea same with everyone else, i agree that this about a guy who has no emotions after the break-up, or mess up (hence Robots) and he wants to start over because he's starting to feel the depression and sadness (Will Cry)

ONE MORE THING!!!! Does this song remind anyone else of the book "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer?? That's the first thing I thought of when i heard this song. Like how the soul, didn't have much emotion towards anything, but then with the humans, she starts to love them and becomes very emotional. Eh, maybe it's just me. BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG> ;]

ummm... Narcissism describes the trait of excessive self-love, based on self-image or ego. Often denoting vanity, conceit, egotism or simple selfishness. I don't see how this could be what you mean.

I agree with everyone. The song seems like someone had a relationship with someone who was good to them but, they were self centered and says he was acting like a child and now their older and understand what they were doing and want things to go back to the way they were. And their apologizing of course and trying to get the person to come back to them after all that has happened and the time that has pasted.

    My Opinion

This has to be my favorite song out of everything that Cobra Starship has done. I can really relate to it, and I'm sure a lot of others could too.

It's about, or at least what I feel like, how he, or someone, is almost like a robot, no emotions no feelings, acts only like a jerk or is only mean to others, specifically someone that's very close to him/them. "One day robots will cry" would mean that one day him and the others who act like him will soon feel emotion like "normal" humans. "I'm back after all these years"/"I won't make the same mistakes" proves that he must have treated someone close to him badly, and soon realizes what he did was wrong.

"I'm dying not to hurt you-in our dreams we can be complete"- He obviously wants to change, and he feels that only in his dreams he can be with that close person without having to worry about anything such as the past.

And last, my favorite line of the whole song (which btw I'm planning on getting tattooed) "I know I'm like a machine, but I still have dreams"- he realizes his lack of emotion towards others, but wants them to understand that he still is/strives to be a person on the inside.

    Fangs up!

I think that he has gone through a seriously tough time and leaves or abandons someone he loves. When he comes back he just wants to start over and "make a home again." Anyone one know what he means my This won't hurt more than a pinch?

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
