Supposed to Grow Old Lyrics

You broke my heart
When you said, “Goodbye”
And only you can lift my spirit
You gave me wings, and now you’re gone

What I’m crying inside
A thousand tears every time
I think of you
Lock the pictures away
Hide the letters too
Anything to get my mind off you

She just walked by me like nothing ever happened
Well, she said she would rescue me if I was ever fallin’
Well baby, there’s no way that you could have forgotten
All of the memories I thought we shared

We were supposed to grow old...

Tell me how I look up at the moon
When I know the moon shines up on you
Through that window in your room
I wish I had you here in my arms
I would never let you go
No, no, no, no, no, no, no no (etc....)

She just walked by me like nothing ever happened
Well she said she would rescue me if I was ever falling
Well baby, there’s no way that you could have forgotten
All of the memories I thought we shared

We were supposed to grow old...

Crying inside
A thousand tears every time
I think of you, ooh~

Obviously, this song is about a girl breaking up with her boyfriend. She promised him that they would be together forever. Now that they've broken up, she fails to acknowledge the former relationship that they shared. And it breaks his heart to know that she could just forget so easily, while he can't stop thinking about it.

To me, this song is just about a break up and a nasty one too, maybe not for her, but for him.

it makes me think that he is depressed, and upset. while she doesnt even care, and doesnt want to be seen talking to him.

This song seems to be exactly what I've been going through lately. Pretty obvious meaning, but amazing lyrics in the same. They were in love; She promised him forever; And she broke his heart. Now he is stuck with all of the memories they had made together and the future they had dreamt of...and in the meantime she is going on with life like those words were never spoken.

Yeah, I agree that this song is amazing. I really like how he starts off with the song as if he's telling the story to someone else, and as the song progresses, he is talking to her. The lyrics here don't reflect that, but if you listen, the last verse, he is using "you" instead of "she".

I'm sorry to say this, but he's way too good to be mainstream. Quality lyrics, good voice, deep meanings, and quality music. Well done.

I Think The Song Meaning Is Pretty Obvious. Wanting To Grow Old Together, But Your Plans Were Ruined On The Way. He's Sad,But She Broke His Heart. I Love This Song Because You Can Really Feel His Pain.
