Goodbye Young Tutor, You've Now Outgrown Me Lyrics

Black days
You've changed
Oh, have you left me here to rot
I kid you not
I miss you girl
You're all that makes me true

You're breath
You're scent
Follows drifting on the vapor
I can't escape her
She was my love
Now she's pushing me away

The night that we met
At the back of the show
My favourite band
But you wouldn't know
From looking at me
All wrapped up in you
But where can you be now?
And what can I do, for you?

Just say Maxim
I love you
I need you
And no one will do but you

Maxim
I love you
I miss you
And no one will do but you
No one will do but you (x4)

Black days (x4)

I say it is pretty self explanatory. I could be wrong though. Great song off a great album.

yeah. heartbreak. she's left him (or is drifting away, "now she's pushing me away") and he's lost without her, and all he wants is for her to come back and tell him she loves him. :(

after admitting things were finally over between him and the girl in "we killed it", max still wants her back. the simplest song on the album, pretty much. beautiful!

say anything needs more songs like this

I think this is a total joke song. He doesn't sing any songs in this forced, breathy manner. Max always writes so sarcastically about love, so it would be uncharacteristic for him to flip all of a sudden and write such a cheesy song. I would also doubt that he'd want any girl to call him "Maxim."

I wonder if Maxim's just a reference to a cheesy magazine that I'm sure he loves and hates himself for loving, and to the type of girl fan who he could hook up and trick with such a cheesy, sarcastic song.

in response to the comment above me... he DOES usually write so sarcastically, but that doesnt mean what he writes isnt real to him and that hes just making fun of himself even for feeling the things hes made fun of before. as for his voice here, max said in an interview "I think I’ve learned how to control my voice in a way that I’m not constantly growling like on the last record. This may scare some people but I’m less afraid of being “emotional” on this record." i def dont think this song is a joke, i mean this girl is the focus of like at least 1/3 of these twenty something songs. he said also that he's telling an 'actual love story.' and her calling him maxim just shows how intimate it was. this is the girl he gives himself to in 'baby girl, im a blur.' its just crazy the way he wants her. thats my opinion, but maybe im that fan girl being tricked by a cheesy song? haha who knows

with that being said, i like the heart behind this song but its just not say anything to me. its more like an interlude.

First of all, Max writes a lot of songs about relationships. His voice breaks on this one and "I Want to Know Your Plans" off of the previous album and I assume it's because these two songs are the more serious, romantic ones. Even Max Bemis has fallen in love at least once.

Furthermore, I think these lyrics are slightly off. These are the correct ones:

Black days You've changed Oh, have you left me here to rot I kid you not I miss you girl You're all that makes me true

Your breath, Your scent, Follows drifting on the vapor I can't escape her She was my love Now she's pushing me away

The night that we met At the back of the show My favourite band But you wouldn't know From looking at me All wrapped up in you But where can you be now? And what can I do, for you?

Max...um... I love you I miss you And no one will do but you No one will do but you (x4)

@Tiggzie It is Maxim not Max...um... I was confused for a while as well but upon further reading his name is Maxim Adam Bemis...

What onewishfull said. Maxim is his nickname; I've heard people call him that before. And I don't think Max would have a problem being called Maxim if he'll call the object of his desires "Baby Girl".

Then again, that could just be the J Records showing through.............. cough

Max flat out lays all his feelings for his ex out on the table. He loves her, he'll never be happy without her, etc. He feels unusually vulnerable doing this and toward the end of the song he is almost begging her to take him back this song serves as an apology and proposal for them to start going out again.
