No Soul (feat. Anna Waronker) Lyrics
There's something in the way you people smell,
Like you've got no soul at all,
Fingers crawling with ringworm,
Your sneer's a mating call,
To lure in others of your breed,
Spread that smug and slimy seed,
Borrow quotes from the culture,
Crowded like weeds.
Is your schedule sufficient tonight, you toad?
Hop another bar until the rooster crows.
This song belongs to you,
And all your crew.
This curse will sting the worst,
As it shall marr you.
All rise!
All rise!
I'd rather spend an evening giving birth than see how you rise a groove on everyone but the person you're talking to.
Trapped between babuskas on a plane is a fraction of how lame
It is to watch you pump the poison through your veins.
Is your schedule sufficient tonight, you crow?
Sqawk another song until your heart explodes!
This song belongs to you,
And all your crew.
This curse will sting the worst,
As it shall marr you.
You probably think this means I give up on you.
The saddest part is this is why I come,
To watch and pray that I'm mistaken,
And pray I'm not the only one,
Try not to care about this,
I'm knowing this is hopeless;
Noone notices it's,
Not losing sleep over this;
You people are unredeemable, indescribable, all but evil.
"You know very well, what you are,
Don't let it light you off.
You wear your scars,
I've had a few, but not that many.
But you're the only one,
Who gives me good and plenty."
This song belongs to you,
And all your crew. (You're the only one)
This curse will sting the worst,

I love the lines: "You probably think this means I give up on you. The saddest part is this is why I come, To watch and pray that I'm mistaken"
To me it's kind of about losing some you care about to bad influences, but you stick around and hope they come back to the way you used to know them.
the second verse is:
I'd rather spend an evening giving birth than see how your eyes are glued on everyone but the person you're talking to. Trapped between babuskas on a plane is a fraction of how lame It is to watch you pump the poison through your veins.
It's about yuppies and the like. Ever read Bret Easton Ellis books or watched American Psycho? You'll see what I mean.
Spread that smug and slimy seed, Borrow quotes from the culture,
and
Hop another bar until the rooster crows.
and
It is to watch you pump the poison through your veins.
All sound very yuppie-like traits to me. It can't be a sequel to Admit It because it's not at all about fashion posers, actually I think In Defense of the Genre is the best sequel to Admit It, and this song is about rich snobs who hide their evil deeds with money.
I see this song as being about Tim Kinsella, and also as sort of a sequel to admit it.
I love the Notorious B.I.G. "Juicy" sample at the end of the song. It's where the cd really kicks in first for me.
I didn't like this song as a reference to "Kinsella." However, it is going really well as a sarcastic look at "bad influences" that I have experienced first hand. People are judgemental, and seeing this song as a giant outpouring of sarcasm makes it twice as good to me.
Sounds like it refers to people getting drunk and the pop culture in bars.
i think this is max's rant about bars and the drunk people in them
'The saddest part is this is why I come, To watch and pray that I'm mistaken, And pray I'm not the only one,'
meaning how he comes just because he hopes that someone else has the same problems on them so he feels as if he's not the only one
another note or two on the lyrics:
the chorus:
This song belongs to you, And all your crew. This curse will sting the worst, As it shall mark you.
and for the sample its:
"You know very well, what you are, Don't let them write you off. You wear your scars, I've had a few, but not that many. But you're the only one, Who gives me good and plenty."
He is talking about how fake women are and how they use the same old lines acting like you are the coolest person they ever met until they talk to the next person. Even though he still goes to the bars all he meets are the fake people. Hoping one day that he will meet someone like him.
