Ghosts In My Machine Lyrics
Oh come and take this pain away
(Oh come and take this pain away)
Oh come and take this pain away
(Oh come and take this pain away)
Oh come and set my spirit free
(Oh come and set my spirit free)
Yea
I've seen too much
I know too much
I hurt too much
I feel too much
I dread too much
I dream too much
I'm caught up by the ghosts in my machine
wooh, yeah
I'm bruised and battered by the storm
(I'm bruised and battered by the storm)
Can't find a place to keep me warm
(Can't find a place to keep me warm)
My mind is broken and forlorn
(My mind is broken and forlorn)
I think too much
I do too much
I fall too much
I fail too much
I cry too much
I die too much
I'm haunted by the ghosts in my machine
wooh, yeah
Give me some of that medicine
To make me forget
(I can't find it)
I need something easier
(I can't find it)
Cuz I ain't found it yet
(I can't find it)
I ain't found it yet
(I can't find it)
I ain't found it
Oh no no no
Oh womankind was born of pain
(Oh womankind was born of pain)
My soul keeps hurting just the same
(My soul keeps hurting just the same)
Oh come and take this pain away
(Oh come and take this pain away)
I give too much
Get used too much
I lose too much
Get bruised too much
I bleed too much
I need too much
I'm sleeping with the ghosts in my machine
I still wan't you baby
(no no)
Guess I always do
(no no)
I stil love to baby
(no no..)
Guess I always do
(no no)
(Oh come and take this pain away)

The most confusing part of this song was the "ghosts in my machine," but after some consideration, it seems to make sense if you just replace that with the words "love of my past."
She begs in the beginning for SOMEONE ELSE to love her and take away her pain and lonliness. All she can think about is her past lover and she keeps bringing herself down saying "I've seen too much, I know too much, I feel too much...etc"
Later in the song she restates that she needs some medicine (new love) to ease her pain and forget her past. However, she can't seem to find anybody.
At the very end of the song, she seems to be wanting her past love again, but at the same time she is telling herself "no no" because she knows all he ever did was hurt her and make her feel like SHE had something wrong with HER "I give too much, get used too much, I lose too much..." when the TRUTH was that it was HIS fault.
So, thankfully, at the VERY end of the song you can hear her saying "Get out of my house," showing that she will NOT accept that kind of abuse, no matter if she will always love him.
