Videotape Lyrics
This is a Radiohead song.
Apparantly 2.
this is radiohead not just thom yorke
Well first let me say this song has a great feel. You know it's the last song on the album, even before the album came out. It just has an incredible sense of finality that there is no other place the song could fit on the album.
But this is the end of someone's life. The videotape is symbolic; it's the mind, the memory.
"This is my way of saying goodbye Because I can't do it face to face I'm talking to you after it's too late From my videotape"
He's remembering someone, thinking about them, seing a memory of them in his mind (or videotape). He is thinking about a certain individual throughout the whole song, possibly a lover.
"No matter what happens now I won't be afraid Because I know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen."
Thinking of this individual obviously calmed him, rid him of fear. "...the most perfect day I've ever SEEN." He didn't live this day, he thought about it, saw it on his "videotape."
i disagree with the symbol of the mind, i think its about suicide.
but ye ur right its a superb end to the album
"This is my way of saying goodbye Because I can't do it face to face I'm talking to you after it's too late From my videotape"
he is to afraid to say that he wants to die to the person he cares about the most, so he is saying goodbye. The videotape is his suicide note, and it will be watched once he is already dead and his body has been found.
I remember watching a documentary about a guy who was born into a famous sex cult in america and was consequently molested as a child within that cult. his whole life he hated his mother and what she made himn go through, so he killed her, and then killed himself leaving a videotape behind for his girlfriend.
The most perfect day he ever saw was when he finally found solace in his vengeance. untill that last day where he killed his mother and himself his day could not be perfect because the memories always lingered.
im not saying the song is about this particular story, but it is a tale that goes well with the song.
I am convinced its suicide i dont see any other meaning
This song makes me think of my best friend Justin. And how I never got to say 'goodbye' to him when he left for the navy. I cry every time I hear it. Ya a bit sappy, but the one lyric, "This is my way of saying goodbye Because I can't do it face to face I'm talking to you after it's too late" Just reminds me of how I never got to say 'BUH BYE' to him, and when I did get the chance, it wouldn't have been face to face.
Shit. No song, and I mean, NO SONG, gets me crying except this one.
Damn you Thom. Damn You.
thom yorke is a genius

I like Radiohead's version better.
ok this song is amazing! is beautifully interpreted... the lyrics... the melody... and for my this song is for my dad. cause we could not get along anymore... that brokes my heart... so i will never be capable to tell him that i love him. but i'm always be remembering us when we were happy. so, dad... i'm giving up... but "i willl have it all here... in red, blue... green" "this is my way of saying goodbye, because I can't do it face to face, i'm talking to you after it's too late, from my videotape"
thanks thom! you created a beautiful piece.
