Seattle Lyrics
My real estate (not sure about that)
My life is dull and dried up like the sound a voice makes when the heart grows cold and it’s going that way.
I think I’ll move out of state somewhere far from Seattle city lights they burn my eyes.
California sounds nice but California’s a lie.
Maybe I’m out of luck or maybe I’m just blind, or this time.
Rain on my hopes,
Rain on my soul,
Rain on everything that I know.
It feels so ludicrous the pursuit of this dream, we thought we’d be there long ago.
My life is like a rolling river so muddy and absurd and although I might be mistaken I know that I’ll be heard.
And I find the second I try to pull away I’m thrown back in line oh this time.
Rain on my hopes
Rain on my soul
Rain on everything I know.
It feels so ludicrous the pursuit of this dream, we thought we’d be there long ago
And we’re all looking for the same thing, the same thing.
Seattle is calling me back home, back home, so..
Rain on my hopes,
Rain on my soul,
Rain on everything I know,
It feels so ludicrous the pursuit of this dream, we thought we’d be there long ago.

Well, since the song is called 'Seattle' and it's pretty much all about wanting to be back home...in Seattle...I'm pretty positive they're saying "rain". Lol.
I'm from Seattle too, and would listen to this song while I was away at college. It really is about taking your old life (and hometown) for granted. "maybe I'm out of luck, or maybe I'm just blind, all this time"
As a Seattle-ite, this song is close to my heart. :)
It's "all this time" for the pre-chorus line.
This song is beautiful and passionate, I like the rain analogy with Seattle. I think the song is about how we search for all the things in life to try to make us happy, but no thing can really make us happy.
Also, I know they don't say it in the song, but God is the only way to fill the void in our lives, (not meaning to preach, but they are a Christian band and I'm guessing that's the point of the song)
well. it seems like they are trying to say that people take all this time to find that one thing that makes us happy and that we should just wait for it to just find us because eventualy it will find us.
And BTW theonethatis...TCC is NOT a christian band. they have said themselfs that theu don't want to be labeled as a christian band
This is what I hear. I'm not sure it's right, and it's not that different from what is already there.
I’ve realized that my life is dull and dried up, like the sound a voice makes when the heart goes cold, and it’s going that way.
I think, I’ll move out of state, somewhere far from Seattle’s city lights; they burn my eyes. California sounds nice, but California’s a lie. Maybe, I’m out of luck, or maybe, I’m just blind. Oh, this time.
Rain on my hopes. Rain on my soul. Rain on everything that I know. It feels so ludicrous - the pursuit of this dream; we thought we’d be there long ago.
My life is like a rolling river - so muddy and absurd. And although I might be mistaken, I know that I’ll be heard. And I find, the second I try to pull away, I’m thrown back in line. Oh, this time.
So, rain on my hopes. Rain on my soul. Rain on everything that I know. It feels so ludicrous - the pursuit of this dream; we thought we’d be there long ago.
Rain on my house. Rain on my soul. Rain on everything that I know. It feels so ludicrous - the pursuit of this dream; we thought we’d be there long ago.
And we are all looking for the same thing, the same thing. Seattle is calling me back home, back home.
So, rain on my hopes. Rain on my soul. Rain on everything that I know. It feels so ludicrous - the pursuit of this dream; we thought we’d be there long ago.

Yeah, I know all about the "Christian band" stuff....
just because they don't want to be labeled as a christian band doesn't mean their not christians and singing about god. from what i've heard their christian people and that could definately influence their lyrics. i think thats what theonethatis was getting at.
they have a lot of Christian undertones though, and the fact that they are not specifically Christian doesn't mean that the sings don't have that meaning to them, 'cause a lot certainly do.
I don't hear "rain"... I hear "reign"... and I do think the undertone is about them asking God to be at the forefront in their lives when things ('hopes', 'soul', 'everything I know') seem down or out of their own control.

You know what I assumed that it was Rain, and after seeing the video I would assume rain, but that doesn't mean its not reign as well. Play on words are common, and the fact that whoever it was saw that shows an extremely creative mind on their part. And when it all boils down reign and rain mean virtually the same thing, one just deals with matter, and the other with rule. Both come down, you reign down on someone and you get rained down on....
Interesting..
