Blessed Brambles Lyrics
bless the weeds that grow on the yard
just like rain and dust appear
bless the dogs who talk to ferns
let's, let's kiss the boys who pee in mud
ooh ooh ooh ooh
ooh ooh ooh ooh
ooh ooh ooh ooh
ooh ooh ooh ooh
bless the weeds that grow on the yard
just like rain and dust appear
bless the dogs who talk to ferns
let's, let's kiss the boys who pee in mud
kiss the girls who clean the cheese
bless the bee that clings the leaves
kiss the hands who spread manure
here, go go smear the poison ivy, let your crooked hands be holy
bless the doves who come too fast
bless the bee that clings the leaves
kiss the hands who spread manure
go go smear the poison ivy, let your crooked hands be holy
just like rain and dust appear
bless the dogs who talk to ferns
let's, let's kiss the boys who pee in mud
ooh ooh ooh ooh
ooh ooh ooh ooh
just like rain and dust appear
bless the dogs who talk to ferns
let's, let's kiss the boys who pee in mud
bless the bee that clings the leaves
kiss the hands who spread manure
here, go go smear the poison ivy, let your crooked hands be holy
bless the bee that clings the leaves
kiss the hands who spread manure
go go smear the poison ivy, let your crooked hands be holy

well, I think this song is a playful celebration of the little things that make life less misarable and most people take for granted. also, that one's imagination should'nt be left to die away as one ages.
everything about this song is fantastic. such a beautiful composition... with such strange lyrics ...
but that just makes the song all more powerful
The music sets up a back-and-forth with the lyrics on a couple levels. The lyrical emphasis on blessing and the final line "let your crooked hands be holy" (when juxtaposed with the childhood imagery) seem to describe the purity of innocence. And the tinkling sounds throughout would seem to agree with this.
Ultimately this song is about loving and remembering the beauty that our innocence gave us. Who is to say it is something we've lost?
