Slow down, the world isn't watching us break down
It's safe to say we are alone now, we're alone now
Not a whisper, the only noise is the receiver
I'm counting the seconds until you break the silence
So please just break the silence

The whispers turn to shouting
The shouting turns to tears
Your tears turn into laughter
And it takes away our fears

So you see, this world doesn't matter to me
I'll give up all I had just to breathe
The same air as you till the day that I die
I can't take my eyes off of you

And I'm longing, for words to describe how I'm feeling
I'm feeling inspired
My world just flip turned upside down
It turns around, saw that's that sound
It's my heart beat, it's getting much louder
My heart beat, is louder than ever
I'm feeling alive, I'm feeling alive

The whispers turn to shouting
The shouting turns to tears
Your tears turn into laughter
And it takes away our fears

So you see, this world doesn't matter to me
I'll give up all I had just to breathe
The same air as you till the day that I die
I can't take my eyes off of you

I'm finally waking up, a twist in my story
It's time I open up, and let your love right through me
I'm finally waking up, a twist in my story
It's time I open up, and let your love right through me
That's what you get
When you see your life in someone else's eyes
That's what you get, that's what you get

So you see, this world doesn't matter to me
I'll give up all I had just to breathe
The same air as you till the day that I die
I can't take my eyes off of you
So you see this world doesn't matter to me
I'll give up all I had just to breathe
The same air as you till the day that I die
I can't take my eyes off of you

    My Interpretation

i think this song is about how for 1 has had most of all his songs about sad happenings. this one changes and now for once he is happy which is the twist in my story.

Slow down, the world isn't watching us break down It's safe to say we are alone now, we're alone now Not a whisper, the only noise is the receiver I'm counting the seconds until you break the silence So please just break the silence

at first he seems like he's getting more comfortable because the world isnt watching him. Now there alone and he’s thinking that there alone now so its okay. He’s wanting her to break the silence because he wants to hear her voice.

"My whispers turn to shouting The shouting turns to tears Your tears turn into laughter And it takes away our fears"

at first he thinks this relationship is going to be bad again, but in the end it takes away his fears. or changes into something good now.

So you see, this world doesn't matter to me I'll give up all I had just to breathe The same air as you till the day that I die I can't take my eyes off of you

this part he will give up everything just to live because he is happy now. he wants to be with this person forever sharing the same air until the day he dies.

    he's relaxing.

“And I'm longing, for words to describe how I'm feeling I'm feeling inspired My world just flip turned upside down It turns around, saw that's that sound It's my heart beat, it's getting much louder My heart beat, is louder than ever I'm feeling alive, I'm feeling alive”

this part describes much because everything is changing and now he's feeling his heart grow, and feels alive, actually wants to live.

I'm finally waking up, a twist in my story It's time I open up, and let your love right through me I'm finally waking up, a twist in my story It's time I open up, and let your love right through me That's what you get When you see your life in someone else's eyes That's what you get, that's what you get

and the bridge explains everything. he's finally opened up and let her into him. He’s realized this is whats right for him and he will now be happy

So you see, this world doesn't matter to me I'll give up all I had just to breathe The same air as you till the day that I die I can't take my eyes off of you This world doesn't matter to me I'll give up all I had just to breathe The same air as you till the day that I die I can't take my eyes off of you

And now you realize as he oes that everythings okay now. All he wants is her and he’s happy with that.

This song is amazing. Especially if u played it to someone. Imagine telling someone that they’ve changed your life from all the bad that’s been going on. And for once you feel free to open up and let that person in. well I hope my interpretation opened some eyes. I love this song, and I play it everyday

and i cant beleive im the first one to interpret. how sad its my favorite song by them :)

    Song Meaning

Apparently it's about the day John Vesely became a father. So sweet of a sentiment, and it's a really sweet song, so real and raw. The orchestra really adds to it.

"'A Twist In My Story' is one of my favorite songs on the album. First off, the production is great. I always wanted to have an orchestral-based song, and I think it came together really well. I didn't really know what to do with it when we started recording. There were ideas of throwing in a full band, but I really had my heart set on keeping it simple and intimate. It needed to be acoustic-based, so I recorded the acoustic guitar track, and we sat down to start throwing ideas out. We ended up giving stings a try, and instead of keeping them in the background, we put them right up front. This song is also very important to me because I wrote it about the day I found out I was going to be a father. It starts off with the phone call telling me the news and continues with the emotions and feelings running through my head. I wanted to make this song extremely personal and literal. I wanted to make it feel like the listener was there finding out with me."- John Vesely

    hahah ken, nice.

    This song is so sweet.

"I'll give up all I had just to breathe The same air as you till the day that I die" that's the definition of love.

i think it means that when you get so involved in someone elses lives, that you are more or less living theirs and abandoning your own. When that person leaves you, you are left with out a life.

He said recently, in a "JAMNOW" interview..that he wrote this song, when he was thinking about his children. More specifically, when he found out that he was about to be a father, like, when he found out his wife was pregnant with his son. :)

The way is says "whisper" and "receiver" is really cool.

Some of these lyrics are wrong.

This is a really good song.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
