I just learned this song on guitar, its beautiful (: Anyway here are the complete lyrics with meanings:

• as I said before, the "great shapes" are the forms and way of humanity/society or a person. "the torture" is necessary for them to advance

• no words can help, only actions

• the only way to learn is to hit rock bottom, in other words to be down and cold ("on the floor")

• this is the process of erasing who you were, and beginning again with a new view of life

• "broken visions" means a lack of trust

• since there is no trust, everything is like a battefield. we don't care what gets destroyed

• after going through all this, you have a chance to change it all for the better

"Don't be afraid, fade away."

great shapes are the forms/paths that we take. they seem abstract (different), to other people, and we don't understand why people are like that
