One by One Lyrics
Underneath the desert sun
They bid my brother’s blood to run
Many miles away
Hell has come today
Fire raining from the sky
See the face of fear asking one last time
Let me get home safe
Before it’s too late
Chorus:
One by one
The brave will fall
Life is lost again
They gave it all
Deep within the castle walls
So many grieve as funeral songs
Echo endlessly
Ode to memories
This sacrifice of flesh and blood
For a promised land that may not be won
Let us not forget the hero laid to rest
(Chorus)
And they gave it all
A price we can’t ignore
Is there hope in what they’re dying for?
For every hero born
From every family torn
We will honor you forevermore
(Chorus x2)
They bid my brother’s blood to run
Many miles away
Hell has come today
See the face of fear asking one last time
Let me get home safe
Before it’s too late
One by one
The brave will fall
Life is lost again
They gave it all
So many grieve as funeral songs
Echo endlessly
Ode to memories
For a promised land that may not be won
Let us not forget the hero laid to rest
A price we can’t ignore
Is there hope in what they’re dying for?
For every hero born
From every family torn
We will honor you forevermore

At first I thought Crusades. The Crusades were fought in the desert, catapults could throw things that are on fire, a lot of people died, there were castles all around during that time period, and we will always remember the Crusades. Then I thought Iraq. Desert and bombs. Either way, I think it's more of an honoring the soldiers that gave their lives than a protest song. Too many people get caught up in wars and about them being right or not and they forget that people are dieing for something that they believe in(or most of them anyways). We all just need to remember that there are people fighting and dieing and that they have families that care about them before we start disrespecting them like some people are doing right now.
This song's meaning so overt that it does not require discussion. I just saw Alter Bridge this week in Dallas and man do they ROCK! The venue was small and not filled, but you wouldn't know it by the way they played. Myles nailed everything and so did his band mates. I love this band!
First stanza kinda speaks for itself. Second one...not so clear.
i think kennedy sings this sing as a brave person and he tells that this world doesnt have any value for the brave people every1 will die so i should go home before i die like other great and brave persons.
Fallen soldiers in Iraq....
