(David Bowie I Love You) Since I Was Six Lyrics

Does she love you, you suppose
With somebody who would know
Who believes in what you are
You're my favorite thing by far

There's a fire in your eyes
I see it all sometimes
In the darkness of the night
I see it many times
Yes I'm sure it shines in you

There's no warm place left to go
When I'm feeling kind of slow (slow down sir)
Do you like the way you are
Yes it is, 'cause you're the star

It's the brightness in your eyes
I see it all tonight
In the darkness of my light
Shining on the chosen few

To me personally this song is about the human soul, and how you can see it in certain peoples eyes. I could be completely wrong but that's what it means to me, that and falling in love with that soul.

Hi there! The BJM were in and out of my flat during 1995-96 because one of their BFF's was my roommate (Diane). During that time, I had a conversation with Anton Newcombe about how I'd loved David Bowie since I was six. It was in reference to David Bowie's narration of Prokofiev's Peter & the Wolf. I was six in 1978 when that record came out, and my father gave me that record as a gift. My relationship with my father was complicated, but we shared a love of music. Unsure if I mentioned that part in the conversation. Very possibly. This song meaning is unconfirmed by Anton. I'm not in touch, but the timing is exact. Hope this helps. I didn't know about the BJM song until Bowie died in '16 and a friend pointed it out to me.

i was a dandy warhols fan, then i saw "dig" the documentary about the dandys and the BJTM... and wow now i love the massacre so much more. anton is so right in saying that the dandys sold out, courtney taylor taylor is a bit of a dick haha. this is by far my favourite bjtm song. its so nice to listen to

i'm, like... one of five people in the world who might admit that they found that film to be somewhat intolerable... as with the daniel johnston one.

it has the same chord progression as David Bowie's Space Odditty

hey you're right! i never noticed that :)

The first two lines of verse are even phrased the same way. Try singing "Ground Control to Major Tom" instead of "Does she love you, you suppose."

Love this song, so hypnotic.
