When All Is Said And Done Lyrics
Here’s to us one more toast
and then we’ll pay the bill
deep inside both of us
can feel the autumn chill
birds of passage you and me
we fly instinctively
when the summer’s over
and the dark clouds hide the sun
neither you nor I’m to blame
when all is said and done
In our lives we have walked
some strange and lonely treks
slightly worn but dignified and not too old for sex
we’re still striving for the sky
no taste for humble pie
thanks for all your generous love
and thanks for all the fun
neither you nor I’m to blame
when all is said and done
It’s so strange when you’re down
and lying on the floor how you rise
shake your head
get up and ask for more
clear-headed and open-eyed
with nothing left untried
standing calmly at the crossroads
no desire to run
there’s no hurry any more
when all is said and done
and then we’ll pay the bill
deep inside both of us
can feel the autumn chill
birds of passage you and me
we fly instinctively
when the summer’s over
and the dark clouds hide the sun
neither you nor I’m to blame
when all is said and done
some strange and lonely treks
slightly worn but dignified and not too old for sex
we’re still striving for the sky
no taste for humble pie
thanks for all your generous love
and thanks for all the fun
neither you nor I’m to blame
when all is said and done
and lying on the floor how you rise
shake your head
get up and ask for more
clear-headed and open-eyed
with nothing left untried
standing calmly at the crossroads
no desire to run
there’s no hurry any more
when all is said and done

I can't believe nobody has posted a comment on this song =o This song is great, capturing the sadness inside the person
This song is about Benny and Frida's divorce =[
also about aging gracefully, and having no regrets about their life. I'm there. :)

@AutumnLeaves34 This song is about the end of all of it, the divorce, the band the music the togetherness they used to enjoy. You really need to see the video to get the looks in their faces to see it was all over.

It's about growing old with grace and style. Having no regrets for their life. But not ready to lie down and die!! One of my favorites, especially now that I am one of the "older folks".
I think it's about a couple that's on age. They know or sense it's been their last summer because one of them or both will die. They look back at their lives and don't regret on things what happened in the past. They thank each other for the lives they had. :)
Great song. :)
It seems like a song of parting, of ending, but of of death. I've always felt that about the song.
Recently I discovered it was a song Bjorn wrote about the break-up of Benny and Freda's marriage. Freda did the lead vocal. That all fits. Sadly.
This song was written after the divorce I'm sure I read somewhere... to me its just a great song about being middle aged, divorced but with no bitterness towards the times you've had with the person you've spent the previous years with... The song both looks back and looks forward... a wise song I think.. :)
