And I came here to make you dance tonight
I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you

And I don't even know
What kinda fool you're taking me for
So you've got some brand new clothes
You never could afford before

Oh, brother, spare us all
We don't care anymore
We just wanna get down on the floor
You sell yourself to make it
You can dish it, but can you really take it?

You're never gonna get it with nothing
'Cause nothing's what you got in your head
So stop pretending

I came here to make you dance tonight
I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you
Shut up 'cause we won't stop
And we're gettin' down 'til the sun's coming up

I came here to make you dance tonight
I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you
Shut up 'cause we won't stop
And we're gettin' down 'til the sun's coming up

And I don't even read
What the papers gotta say about me
Oh, no, I can't believe
They take it so serious, seriously

I'm so bored, oh, please don't talk anymore
Shut your mouth and get down on the floor

So cynical
Poor baby, I can dish it 'cause I know how to take it

You're never gonna win 'em all
So fuck 'em if they can't take a joke
I'm just playing

I came here to make you dance tonight
I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you
Shut up 'cause we won't stop
And we're gettin' down 'til the sun's coming up

I came here to make you dance tonight
I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you
Shut up 'cause we won't stop
We're gettin' down 'til the sun's coming up

And maybe someday I'll believe
(Maybe someday I'll believe)
That we are all apart of some bigger plan
Tonight I just don't give a damn
(So shut your mouth it's time to dance)
If the world is ending, I'm throwing the party

I came here to make you dance tonight
I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you
Shut up 'cause we won't stop
And we're gettin' down 'til the sun's coming up

I came here to make you dance tonight
I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you
Shut up 'cause we won't stop
And we're gettin' down 'til the sun's coming up

I came here to make you dance tonight
I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you
Shut up 'cause we won't stop
And we're gettin' down 'til the sun's coming up

instead of never gonna win anymore etc.

i'm pretty sure it's "you're never gonna win 'em all so fuck 'em if they can't take a joke i'm just playing"

    (:

'sinacle' isn't a word...it's cynical. and i believe that song's called "guilty pleasure", without the 's'. isn't it?

"And I don't even know what kind of boy you're taken me for"

"Oh but they spent us all"

"And I dont even read what the papers gotta say about me Oh no, I can't believe they'd take it so serious, seriously I'm so bored, please, dont talk anymore"

"And maybe someday I'll believe (Maybe someday I'll believe) That we are all a part of some bigger plan Tonight I just don't give a damn (So shut your mouth it's time to dance) If the world is ending, I'm throwing the party"

i've listened to it like a billion times already hahah so those are my corrections, i think they are right but who knows, that's just how they sound to me. also, I think it is "I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you" like the person above me. it makes more sense, in my opinion..

as far as meaning is concerned, I think it's about the fans. he does it to make us dance and have fun, it's not about making money or getting famous, but it works out for us because they are our "guilty pleasure." Although, if it is "i don't care about my guilty pleasure for you," it would make sense because it would be like we, the fans, are their guilty pleasure, because they are getting more fame as their fanbase grows. Either way, it's all about them being true to themselves and their fans while they are doing this, it's not about the fame or the money or "selling out" for either, hence why he doesn't "even read what the papers gotta say about me." idk, just my take.

I've listened to it a million times, and these are the lyrics I heard:

And I came here to make you dance tonight I don’t care if I’m a guilty pleasure for you. And I don’t even know What kind of fool you’re takin' me for So you’ve got some brand new clothes You never could afford before Oh god just spare us all We don’t care anymore We just wanna get down on the floor You sell yourself to make it You can dish it but can you really take it? (can you really take it?)

You’re never gonna care about nothing (all I want) ‘cause nothing’s what you got in your head (all I) so stop pretending

Chorus: And I came here to make you dance tonight I don’t care if I’m a guilty pleasure for you Shut up ‘cause we won’t stop We’re gettin’ down til the sun’s coming up X2

And I don’t even read What the papers got to say about me Oh, no I can’t believe They take it so serious Seriously

I’m so butt ugly Don’t talk anymore Shut your mouth and get down on the floor So cynical, oh baby I can dish it ‘cause I know how to take it

You’re never gonna win them all (All I want) So fuck ‘em if they can’t take a joke I’m just playing

    Chorus x2

And maybe someday I’ll believe (maybe someday I’ll believe) That we are all a part of some greater plan Tonight I just don’t give a damn (so shut your mouth it’s time to dance) If the world is ending, I’m throwing the party

    Chorus x3

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
