Red Sky Lyrics
There's a man on my street
He reminds me everyday
Better take what you can get
Cause there's nothing more than this
Daylight fades into the ground,
Oh Lord i need you now
CHORUS
Cover me with the red sky tonight
The promise of a better day to come
Sing over me an angelic symphony
Tell me everything will be alright
With the red sky tonight
We're so taking with our fear
Now we're folded up in shame
*With our feet nailed* to the floor
We're the only ones to blame
I can't help but wonder why
Nobody bats an eye
You can see it in the faces
Of all *the passers by*
So, cover me with the red sky tonight
The promise of a better day to come
Sing over me an angelic symphony
Tell me everything will be alright
I sail into the sun
When the day is done
I need you in the night
So wake me in the dark
I see you in the sun
When the day is done
Cover me with the red sky tonight
I promise a better day will come
Sing over me an angelic symphony
Tell me everything will be alright
Tell me everything will be alright
Tell me everything will be alright
It's the red sky
It's the red sky
Tonight
He reminds me everyday
Better take what you can get
Cause there's nothing more than this
Daylight fades into the ground,
Oh Lord i need you now
Cover me with the red sky tonight
The promise of a better day to come
Sing over me an angelic symphony
Tell me everything will be alright
With the red sky tonight
Now we're folded up in shame
*With our feet nailed* to the floor
We're the only ones to blame

Tell me everything will be alright

i love this song it's not as well known as Brandon's "i'm not who i was" but it is beautfully done.
i realize there is many symbolic words in these lyrics but i don't fully understand it. any help?
i think it's a prayer- he's asking God to show him a "sign" (red sky) not because he doesn't know if God exists, but because he needs to be comforted tonight. the angelic symphony is just a metaphor for peace or comfort during the difficult times. the "difficult time" seems like it's more of a dull, chronic problem and not necessarily one specific incidence. i think he is getting bummed about the selfishness and lack of eternal-perspective seen on earth that he sees in a lot of people(like from the man on his street).

i'm...
i'm guessing it's hard for him to live in a world where so many people are so concerned about silly, petty things when our eyes should be on God. i think everyone needs a red sky from God now and again, if only to keep on keepin' on.
he actually wrote this song in memory of a homeless man he and his parents took in one day for Christmas dinner. He explained all of this at a concert. I think he feels overwhelmed by all of the poverty and stuff. Its basically all through the song. "I can't help but wonder why nobody bats an eye." No one notices the people who are helpless. No one cares for them. Its encouraging to me to care for others
