Don't Bore Us, Get to the Chorus Lyrics

He's Never gonna go away
He's Never gonna go away
He's Never gonna go away
He's Never gonna go away
He's Never gonna go away
He's Never gonna go away

So we sit and we wait
For the curtains to fall
And there are words we could use
But should never say at all
But you do, you do, you do
You do, you do, you do
We met in the courtyard
Where no one would notice
Two kids contemplating
All high school had shown us
And I told you I loved you
And I knew you believed it
As I quited my conscience
Hoping you wouldn't see it
But I do, I do, I do
I do, I do, I do

I just want to be with you tonight
the mood is set and we're here by candlelight
I paid my dues so don't be rude
Stop putting up a fight
I just want to get with you tonight

But "No" they say
What doesn't kill you
Makes you stronger
But the questions remain
Until you can't take it any longer
But I am still so young
And I didn't know I could be so dumb
And you your still so young
But now I know that your so dumb

Never gonna go away
I'm never gonna go away

I just want to be with you tonight
the mood is set and we're here by candlelight
I paid my dues so don't be rude
Stop putting up a fight
I just want to, I just want to, I, I, I,
I do, I do, I do,
I do, I do, I do,

So what about you
Never satisfied
I'm never satisfied
Never satisfied
So let them all fall
Side by side

Side by side
One more will fall tonight
One more to promised lies
The morning brings the dreadful light
So you can see you have fallen

Side by side, Let them fall
Side by side, Let them fall
Side by side, Let them fall
Side by side

i agree abotu the first line meaning that he wants to have sex with her but she doesnt but to me it goes a bit deeper than that. the singer shows that he does fee somewhat bad for what he is doing in the line "quieted my conscience hoping you didnt see it, but i do i do i do"
to me that line means he knows what he is doing is wrong however as in many situations though we know the right thing to do...we often do not do it.

in the chorus he describes how much he has worked for getting "his" in the end, or in other words getting sex for all his romantic efforts because despite any reservations from beleifs he may have implied to in teh first verse are gone by the chorus as he is overcome by lust and the want...or need to have sex.

i don't agree with the previous oppinions of the second verse however. i don't beleive he is saying that he is dumb for waiting or that she is dumb for wanting him to wait, however i beleive he is saying how dumb he is because he gave into the desires that he knew he shouldnt have and she is dumb for letting him go so far with it.

which somewhat brings me back to the first verse and the line "we met in the courtyard where no one would notice, two kids contemplating all highschool has shown us". which by that line it is describing the feelings that many young teens have about sex, all that they learn from highschool is that it's perfectly fine, everyone does it why dont yousort of mentality. however christian beleifs greatly differ in this (sorry to be the one to bring the God topic in but lets not forget that Emery is christian based). the singer knows what he is doing is wrong but as with all sins it is hard to resist, and he wants it so badly that it becomes a need and no longer just a want.

now coming to the line never gonna go away. this i beleive is not so much meaning the singer anymore but instead in reference to the action or the temptation of the action. because as many people know sex can e as addicting as drugs or alchohol, and lust can take over, and make us want it more and more to satisfy ourselves, but as the line says "I'm never satisfied" because really once you become addicted to something you can never be satisfied with just once more. you will always want more of it.

as for the closing lines, "one by one side by side" this could either mean the singer will keep finding more lovers and commiting the same acts over and over again in a desperate need to feed his sexual appetite or in a more general sense applying to all people not just the main character of this song. because all people fall prey to lust, its one of the hardest to resist sins, i myself knwo that first hand as i am a christian and as many know it is against my beleifs to have premarital sex, but just because it is against my beleifs does not mean i will automatically deny that sin when it comes my way. no person is perfect, not christians not anyone, we all fall down at times.

now i do not mean to be pushing my beleifs upon anyone else here. the meanings of most songs are left up to the interpereter. so its up to you what to beleive or not beleive. one last note i'd liek to add is that the entire album is filled with songs much liek this one that accentuate human frailties and places where we just give in to every sin that comes our way. the title of the album says is all "i'm only a man" which can easily be translated to "i'm only human" that theme appears in each of their songs on this album in one way or another and this one especially, playing off of the sin of lust and desire.

This is a really fun song with, I fear, a very dark side (surprise, it's Emery!). This song sounds like it's about a date rape or prom night. Sung from the perspective of the selfish man whose "paid his dues." The lyrics are pretty good but I am not so sure about the "All us sat here by candlelight" line. I don't know what to suggest but I don't think that is right. Can't wait till tomorrow! Great that they released on MySpace.

It seems this guy really wants to have sex with his girlfriend, and she won't do it unless they are completely in love. .

And I told you I loved you And I knew you believed it

and i think it gets to a point where he gets aggrivated he set the mood, and he's "paid his dues" aka i waited for you and he starts to like force himself on her and thats the fight part. . .and i just want to get with you means i never loved you i just wanted to bang you

But "No" they say What doesn't kill you Makes you stronger But the questions remain Until you can't take it any longer

this is saying shes strong in her beliefs of waiting and saying no, but the questions reamain line pretty much is coming from his mind, saying he really cant wait much longer because thats all he's thinking about

But I am still so young And I didn't know I could be so dumb And you your still so young But now I know that your so dumb

well, he says he knows he's young and he thinks he's dumb for waiting for her, and he knows shes young and he thinks that she's dumb for falling for his whole i love you speech in the begining

So what about you Never satisfied I'm never satisfied Never satisfied So let them all fall Side by side

Side by side One more will fall tonight

basically saying he got what he want, he's never really satisfied with just being with someone he has to have sex with them, and he can't wait, and he will never be satisfied with her answer of no

basically he just wants to have sex with her and he's explaining how he just wants to get with her and he lied when he said i love yo u so he can have sex with her yeah its kind of obvious

I agree with gingerr. I love this song; definitly makes it in my Top 5 favorites from this album.

The "Never gonna go away," party sounds sort of... trippy, partially freaky. Very dark for Emery, but sort of cool.

dark song. sounds like what most people are saying is true, in the first verse a guy who is doing on all of things for this girl and saying he loves her just so that he can get sex. the chourus talks about why he feels justified in having sex. the second verse the girl sees right through him in the end after her 'dumb' decision, and at the end the guy talks about he is 'never satisfied', which probably means that he has done this before and cant get enough, while the very dark part of him says that 'another one will fall tonight'. in other words, he thinks he'll get one more girl. kind of scary once you read the lyrics.

i think the song has a general underlying theme aside from the chorus that i think people have missed. maybe im wrong.

but if you notice the title of the song is "Don't bore us, get to the chorus".

when i first listened to the song and the chorus came around, i was like "what the heck?". the chorus totally threw me for a loop. who expected this cheesy synthed up dance beat? i didnt, but as i listened to it i began to interpert it as them also sending a message about the way that "popular" music is made, with the catchy pop synth sound.

dude I agree, I freaking hated the chorus at first, I just thought it ruined the song, but I love it now.

also i think it sounds like at the begining of the song he is saying "hes never gonna go away" as in satan is never gonna go away he is always gonna be there lurking around the corner where you least expect him to be like your sex addicted satan corrupted boyfriend
