The Rush Lyrics
Taste
I love the taste
I need its warm rush
Rush
I need the rush
to pulse through my veins
And i'll love you tonight
Oh, I love you tonight
And tomorrow we may just
feel the same
Please don't bite? down
I will know I'm alive
I will know I'm alive
Rush
There is no rush
there is no reason to blush
there's only us to keep it between
And i'll love you tonight
I will love you tonight
And tomorrow we may just
feel the same
And i won't bite down
'Til the moment comes
And i'll know I'm alive
And i'll know I'm alive
Give me some teeth
Give me something ? unforgettable
And i'll know I'm alive
And i'll know I'm alive
And the moments right
And i'll know I'm alive
And i'll know I'm alive
Give me some teeth
Give me something ? unforgettable
And i'll know I'm alive
And i'll know that I am alive
And i'll know that I am alive
I love the taste
I need its warm rush
I need the rush
to pulse through my veins
Oh, I love you tonight
And tomorrow we may just
feel the same
I will know I'm alive
There is no rush
there is no reason to blush
there's only us to keep it between
I will love you tonight
And tomorrow we may just
feel the same
'Til the moment comes
And i'll know I'm alive
Give me something ? unforgettable
And i'll know I'm alive
And the moments right
And i'll know I'm alive
Give me something ? unforgettable
And i'll know I'm alive
And i'll know that I am alive
And i'll know that I am alive

Why don't ya'll stop gushing like schoolgirls and actually tell us what you think the song means? Flooding the forum with how much you like the CD isn't what this site is supposed to be about.
I think this song is talking about two people who have sex but aren't together. When they are having sex, he feels alive and it feels amazing and they feel connected and he craves that sensation that wouldn't necessarily last past the night.
I've noticed that on a lot of Poison Trees Chris has gone for simplicity. We listeners are those asking for 'something unforgettable', and I'm just worried that however effectively concise some songs like this one may be, this makes them less immediately memorable than Screaming Infidelities or Hands Down for example where they've got this distinctive feel to them. On examination, the new album's a little hit and miss... Either that or I'm just growing up.
Of course, adulthood makes you cynical.
yeahhh, i partially agree w/ you, coma boy, but at the same time, we see songs like screaming infidelities and hands down as classics because they are the songs that we instantly loved of chris's when we first heard him. i do agree with you though in the sense that this song seems so simple that i won't put it on repeat over and over like my old favorites of his. like everything else i've ever heard by dashboard, though, i will listen to it a lot and love it. i think these new songs just need to sink in...
and those old classics bring back so many memories of the things we were doing back then. there is no way dashboard can compete with their own old songs.
This song is so different from there other songs. It's so just The Shins combined with DCFC. I like it a lot though.
I've been a fan of chris since day one, and I'm really impressed with the new CD. I didn't like the new direction Dusk and Summer was going in, but I'm happy the pop-radio songs were cut back on the new CD. I think that this song just shows how he can experiment with other styles...but still stay true to his original sensibilities.
gah. cubbyblues. it's not like this is a super-deep, layered-themes song or something.
I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but I like how the ticking throughout the song kind of ties into the theme of time and how even though there's no rush, you can still hear the ticking inside nagging at you
I really like it...
