More Than Life Lyrics
Belief in the breeze,
The smoky morning haze.
The sun on her face,
and the touch of lovers' hands.
The pain that comes today,
Is here, then goes away.
And we are homeward bound,
And I,
I want this more than life,
I want this more than life,
I want this more than life.
To touch something real,
Will help your wounds heal,
Like the sun on your face,
The dreams of starry nights.
And we are homeward bound,
And I,
I want this more than life,
I want this more than life,
I want this more than life...
I want this more than life.
The smoky morning haze.
The sun on her face,
and the touch of lovers' hands.
The pain that comes today,
Is here, then goes away.
And I,
I want this more than life,
I want this more than life,
I want this more than life.
Will help your wounds heal,
Like the sun on your face,
The dreams of starry nights.
And I,
I want this more than life,
I want this more than life,
I want this more than life...

At a concert Whitley said this song was about thoughts on suicide and how the simple happinesses of life are not possible to be felt in such a depressed state.
yeah he told us it was bout the black dog following you

I agree with howz, it's "a leaf in the breeze" from what I can tell.
I think at the beginning, its just memories coming up that are hard to forget, then they are put away for the day. I think its about going forward with your life without someone because you have to and "wanting more than life" to move forward without that pain.
ps i think it's a leaf too
I love the way you put it!
I love the way you put it!
The word is in-fact belief, according to the cd pamphlet. The song is clearly about contemplating a past relationship. and along with its passing, suicide. It's a very clear message with the phrase, "more than life" repeating. The pain that always returns makes him contemplate, as well as the thoughts of the girl. The way he speaks sounds almost like sone admitting contemplations and it fells very sincere, hard song to listen to,
Wow that song hit different and came immediately to my mind that morning we learned that my grandma had died who meant everything to me... "a leaf in the breeze"... I saw the leaves falling down in the breeze in front of the retirement home, "smoky morning haze"... it was a cold morning like that, "sun on her face"... the sun on my tear-stained face later, "the touch of lover's hands"... her hugs and hands were always my place of love, comfort, and home, "the pain that comes today"... I never felt such a pain before, the loss of my beloved grandma that was like a mother to me..."is here then goes away"... I was hoping so bad it is going away at some point; it's been over 5 years now and I still miss her so much and cry every now and then, her photo is next to me on my nightstand, "to touch something real"... she was the only sincere and authentic person that gave 100% of love and support in my environment, "I want this more than life"... I wanted her back more than life
[Edit: I missed a fact]

i'm pretty sure its "a leaf in the breeze?" i could be wrong but it just sounds like that.
agreed " A Leaf in the breeze."
I know this is old but i think that this relation to god and having suicidal tendencies from a girl, but anyways. "To touch, something real, will help your wounds heal" i think this is referring to god because god could and will help you. "Like the sun, on your face" God is protecting you like the light over you, And Starry night Is From Vincent van gogh who people think that the painting resembles god and the Heavens "The Dreams of Starry Nights" Dreaming of Heaven...But That's just me
its just a normal idea! everybody else feels the same! i want this more than life too!
At first i thought it was a cover of "Ring of fire" by Jhonny Cash
