It's about new beginnings. Waiting on the countdown means waiting for New Year's Eve countdown, because that's a symbolic new start. He is going to be another person next year, he has New Year resolutions and he is going to meet them. Soche waits quietly, "sitting in the shade", until New Year comes. And when it comes, he is going to kick it, and rock this world wild.
I've been trying to figure out the meaning of this one for about 25 years now but still haven't the foggiest idea.
