All These Years Lyrics
One got addicted and the other ran away
Some settled down a familiar place
One let's go of the wheel while the other one steers
One got the money that the other put away
Some held their ground and the others couldn't stay
Few just followed their dreams while the others stood clear
After All These Years
After All These Years
One found religion and the other lost faith
One sold something that he never could replace
Both looked back to see if the coast was clear
One hits the bottle till his problems go away
The other never made it home from school that day
Sometimes I wish I could just disappear
After All These Years
After All These Years
It feels like that some days that the sun never shines
I can't decide for all these little thin rhymes
They're going down in flames, they're burning alive
I just can't take this anymore
One look back at the past and I'm finally here
After All These Years
One got addicted and the other ran away
Some settled down a familiar place
(After All These Years)
One let's go of the wheel while the other one steers

It seems pretty clear that this is a story about two brothers. One that does the right things in life and the other that does the wrong things.
I think that this song could be about the formation of the band and the route that it has taken to get where it is today, with some people leaving due to different reasons.
I don't think it's specifically about two brothers, but it sounds like something that could be about a group of friends, possibly related or possibly the band. Either way this song kicks ass!
I was going to say like Raxx57 said.. I think its about a group of friends from school and what all happened to them. This is by far the most best song ever!
First off, "let's" in the first and last stanzas should be simply "lets" because "let's" is a contraction of "let us", which obviously makes no sense there.
Secondly, in the second to last stanza, the lyrics say "I can't decide for all these little rhymes". The correct lyrics are "I can't decipher all these little rhymes". That one's kind of a no-brainer.
All in all, the song sounds great. I doubt they're describing any group in particular.
I agree with Iceberg.
Its just a song, probably not describing anyone in particular.
I have to apologize- upon listening to the song again more carefully, I realized that it should read "riddles and rhymes" as opposed to "little thin rhymes"... I even made a typo before. Geez..
i think its about someone with a multiple personality disorder, and hes living all these lives which is a metaphor of how everyone changess, become a different person.
I agree with soongsinner caz it kinda makes sense when he say "both" and "I'm" and stuff, one part of him went in one direction and the other in another. It's kinda a contrast between good and bad and one lifestyle that leads down the right road and the other lifestyle that leads down the wrong road. And when the one guy didn't make it home from school it shows that the good personality "himself" is badly affected by his other personality and he ended up getting hurt or something. Also, I just like that dissociative identity disorder explanation better caz it sounds more interesting and better... :p
oops my bad... songsinner.. srry. spelling sux :/
