Echoes on A. Street Lyrics
Anxious nights give way to daylight
She don't cry and she don't complain
To honor, cherish, protect and keep you
She took your problems and took your name
All she wants is a stroll down the island
She don't care if there's wind or there's rain
Only a woman of her stature
Could shield you from the venom of this town's disdain
And she'll wait by your side
She'll never let you out of her sight
And she'll wait by your side
You're the one thing that matters in her life
As she waits patiently by the window
She knows you'll be coming home soon
She'll sit quit there and won't go
Her dedication can't be moved
She hears the echoes marching down A street
Like footsteps on the cobblestone
A pace to heavy to be her master
They pass her by and she's still alone
And she'll wait by your side
She'll never let you out of her sight
And she'll wait by your side
You're the one thing that matters in her life
Chorus:
Shannon I'm coming home
Shannon I'm coming home
She hears the echoes marching down A street
Like footsteps on the cobblestone
A pace to heavy to be her master
They pass her by and she's still alone
And she'll wait by your side
She'll never let you out of her sight
And she'll wait by your side
You're the one thing that matters in her life
Chorus x2
She don't cry and she don't complain
To honor, cherish, protect and keep you
She took your problems and took your name
All she wants is a stroll down the island
She don't care if there's wind or there's rain

Definitely about a dog. Reminds me of my Golden Retriever Molly. Never left my side. RIP Molly!
My bf LOVES Dropkick. He bought me this album and he always plays songs for me that he says were written for us. Well this song I dedicate to him. I love it.
so your boyfriend thinks of you as a dog?

I've always thought he was talking about his dog. All I can picture is a poor pup waiting by the window on her master who never returns home. It makes me cry every time I hear it.
So as much as i love my husband, this sounds more like my puppy who does this every time we leave.
Why a pup? well... she'll wait by your side She'll never let you out of her sight You're the one thing that matters in her life As she waits patiently by the window She knows you'll be coming home soon She'll sit quit there and won't go Her dedication can't be moved A pace to heavy to be her master All she wants is a stroll down the island She don't care if there's wind or there's rain
She is not slave to the pace, which is what is meant by 'master.' A dog? Seriously? It's about unconditional love....like a friendship with quality benefits....loyalty; trust; etc....qualities lacking in many relationships today.

"A pace to heavy to be her master."
The word "master" gives away that the song is about a dog. If it was a NOFX song, it could still be about a girlfriend...
i also thought that it was about a dog when i heard it the first time, however, this line suggests that he is talking about his wife "She took your problems and took your name"
I just came from a Dropkick Murpheys concert. Ken Casey was saying how its about touring and being away from family, so its a tribute to their families back at home who they are away from for months when touring.
Ken said that it was about Matt Kellys dog at the concert I was at.
If he puts 'at' at the end of his sentences than I'm not going to listen to him sing any longer ;)

Sorry, let me rephrase. Mr Casey declared this particular ditty twas referring to a canine belonging to Mr Kelly at a recent evening of music and dance, whilst I was in attendance.
