I've hated every one of Mat Kearney's songs up to this point. It's a beautiful song. I think it's meaning is generally about how the singer is inspired and lifted up by another person and they are mutually there for each other. The other person's going through a hard time and he's just saying that it'll be okay and kind of talking about how that person makes him feel better and calms him down as well. They're just eachother's support systems (doesn't even have to be a romantic relationship) and he's just being there for another person. It's such a pretty song!
Well first of all Mat Kearney's music is freakin awesome. Go see him live if you dont think he's good.. he's got quite a bit of God given talent. But this song is symbolism. If you watch the music video, It's Mat (who died) and he's comforting this girl... it looked like a random girl to me. But that symbolized Jesus (God) always being there for us. And the girl felt Jesus' presence right then in her time of need.
Umm I basically agree with everyone else, about telling the girl that even if he's not with her, that everything will be ok. I mean the song does leave it open to pretty much whatever you want to interpret it as. At first I took it as they were boyfriend and girlfriend and she's kind of upset or they were fighting and he's telling her that everything's fine.

I think that part is about they fight sometimes but that won't break them, he won't let go of her, because she's his other half.

Normally I can't stand Mat Kearney's music, but I must admit, this is a really good song.

I'm not a fan of Mat Kearney at all, I just don't like his music's genre. But I LOVE this song! (Its my ringtone!) The lyrics are really loose, so really you can interpret this song almost any way you want. The first time I heard it, I thought it seemed like Kearney was singing to a girl he liked whose boyfriend just broke up with her. He's comforting her to tell her that he cares about her--
"If everyone goes away, I will stay"
He's also saying that he knows she can get through this and that she'll be OK--
"Everybody bleeds this way, just the same"
I know in the music video its about him dying, but like I said, the lyrics are open to interpretation.
This song makes me like sob. But its basically about what everyone else said.
