Beast & Beauty Lyrics

there once lived a beast... and beauty,
painter of paints, she was a cutie,
the canvas was hers, passion was found...
and the rain came down,
the rain came down...

there once lived the beast... and beauty,
in a forest of trees where the fruit was so fruity...
picked one and ate to feed his doubt
so she put him out, she put him out...

oh no, my low and lonely friend
how slow are we gonna take this bend,
it's a long road with a cold and stony end,
where do you go to pretend?

there once lived a beast and beauty,
painter of paints, and she was a cutie,
she left him before the moon was full,
because she knew his pull, she knew his pull...
she knew his pull, she knew his pull...

oh no, my low and lonely friend
how slow are we gonna take this bend,
it's a long road with a cold and stony end,
where do you go to pretend?

oh no, my low and lonely friend
how slow are we gonna take this bend,
it's a long road with a cold and stony end,
where do you go to pretend?

it's a long road with a cold and stony end,
where do you go to pretend?

such a beautiful song

he must have been in a relationship that literally made him feel like he was living a fairy tale, for better or worse. because it seems to me that all of the lyrics are metaphorical, and not literal events. i really like the second verse ("a forest of trees... to feed his doubts"); it's sort of an allusion to adam and eve, in that he picks an apple in a beautiful forest, and in response she sort of exiles him from the forest (and this would also make the girl sort of a goddess, which i would assume to mean she is beautiful beyond words)

the lyrics are so simple... yet so beautiful

I cried at "Oh no my love and lonely friend; how slow are we gonna take this bend; it's a long road with a cold and stoney end. Where do you go to pretend?" The first one, I mean.

what do you think "how slow are we gonna take this bend" means? the only thing i can think of is taking a relationship slowly and not rushing into anything too quickly, but i'm not sure if that fits into this song.

the chorus just kills me. rice's voice is at its best here. just goes to show that seemingly simple lyrics sometimes pack the most punch.
