You gotta start trying to eat again
Even though the only thing you hunger for
Is to have back your friend
You gotta do your head above the water
Even though time seems irrelevant now
And you're more than sick of this pain inside your chest

If this house would collapse ontop of me
The space would still remain
Much like her body refusing to function
Her soul won't go away

Take one breath and then take another
Repeat these simple steps
Until you feel like you're doing better.
Take one breath
Let the calm of it consume you
Everybody knows that it's never fair
There's really only one thing we can do

You gotta keep your head above the water
Even though sweet suffocation is a fine temptation
You'll always be her daughter.
You gotta push onward through the day
Keep your mind constantly running
You gotta let the sun in
She would have wanted it that way

If this house would collapse ontop of me
The space would still remain
Much like her body refusing to function
Her soul won't go away

Take one breath and then take another
Repeat these simple steps
Until you feel like you're doing better.
Take one breath
Let the calm of it consume you
Everybody knows that it's never fair
There's really only one thing we can do

At 4am when you are wide awake and fighting with yourself
There's about a thousand numbers to dial
Including mine if you need help.
There is no easy way to deal with these events
But if it's any consolation
I will be here, if you need a friend.

Take one breath and then take another
Repeat these simple steps
Until you feel like you're doing better.
Take one breath
Let the calm of it consume you
Everybody knows that it's never fair
There's really only one thing we can do

I think it's about a girl who is so depressed that she has resorted to not eating, always being sad, and may have suicidial tendencies. He's letting her know that she always has someone by her side, if she ever needs anyone. And that he's willing to help her whenever she needs it.

    And yes, very very powerful.

I heard that they're coming out with an acoustic album with all the tracks that didn't make the new CD. So, let's hope!

I think this song is intended for a friend that lost her mother. The friend is depressed and he's letting her know that if she needs a friend, he'll be there. Beautiful song.

Adding to one of my previous comments- This girl is so depressed because one of her close friend's died, and she doesn't know how to handle it. He's saying that he, along with many other people, are just a phone call away just waiting to help her.

the girl's mother died, which was her best friend as well, hence "You'll always be her daughter" he just wants to help her get through the pain of losing someone so near and dear to her, this song brought me to tears because my head would be under water if I ever lost my mother.

This song makes me cry, because it's so amazing. I've never been so blown-away by a song before.

This song helped me so much. My grandma, who was basically my mom (I never had one) died a little over a month ago.. and this song pretty much got me through that depressing time in my life.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
