Poppin' Champagne

i love this song, the whole new cd is pretty good actually. their going to be so huge one day soon.

i think its pretty ironic that this is their new single. they are saying they dont want too sell out, but the video was sell out, their talking about switching label, etc...i think that's why they chose this song as a single. they want people to know that they are trying to sell out. but, i think they are... sorry this has nothing to do with the song, but poppin? come on! they can say champagne but rappers can be sexist and have soft core porn in their videos [i agree exactly with cloudy eye]

I love this song, one of my favorites by them. I was listening to it over and over, and I started to think it was about Holden from "The Catcher in the Rye," because there are quite a few similarities: He's lost in New York City on the streets most of the time, he judges people because he isn't happy with himself, & he's falling between childhood and the adult world. He's hoping that there's somewhere that he belongs in the world. And often, when he's upset or really depressed- perhaps feeling suicidal as he does plenty of times through out the novel-, he gets caught in the moment and drinks a lot, hence "poppin' champagne," in which he's doing it for all the wrong reasons. "So follow me down," is like Holden's fall, as Mr. Antolini describes it as a spiraling downward. And he's losing himself in the world, but one thing it won't take is his beliefs. I don't know, just my interpretation. I'm guessing ATL didn't mean to relate it so much to Catcher, or if they've even read the book, lol.(: But it's a great song, nonetheless.

Seriously, they will be huge, especilly since they are touring with BLGs now and this new album is GOLDEN.

I think its his fears of making it big and not knowing what to do. Like the pressure of everything and stuff. I think it a great way to end the album.

i agree with what chokeondrama said, that it's about it the pressure to be a certain way and how he's "falling in between" in Hollywood. Like he's scared to get left behind.

and becoming like the people he detests ["the television set would show me more than just a picture of the things I've grown to detest"].

and it would be really obvious for him [for THEM] to feel that way. because honestly, they are going to be huge. and for some kids from maryland who drink a little too much, it must seem just a little weird, eh?

he metions in a video [his youtube account is alexATL, i think] that he doesn't want people to think they are selling out. and that they love all their fans, and they want discriminate no matter what song/album you like. and that could be what the song is about? not knowing what to say because they don't want to disapoint anyone, but they don't want to sell-out either.
