Enemy Lyrics

We were lovers on the run
Heading for adventure
Ruinous and young

We fled across the broken land
Wild, deserted places
And it went out of hand

Watch your back
Stay with me
Someone here could be an enemy
Watch your back
Don’t you see
One of us could be the enemy

We seized a house upon a hill
Damp and tainted ceilings
And broken windowsills

Seagulls hanging from the trees
Black and static water
Red and sticky leaves

Watch your back
Stay with me
Someone here could be an enemy
Stay with me
Don’t you see
One of us could be the enemy

This song is fabulous. I believe it's about friendship.

Someone's always got your back, but they could turn on you.

Cerla17. I sort of disagree with you there. I think that this song is about forbidden love. Maybe like some sort of relasionship in the second world war. Anyway. It clearly says that they were lovers. Or I don't know. P.S. I Love, love, love blue foundation.I'm surprised they're not more famous. I don't know about other counties, but here in South Africa everyone's like HUh? Everytime I mention them. How popular are they elsewhere?

Sory. I don't know why that got posted so many times.B-P

The song feels like a young relationship that's based on an 'us vs them' attitude, together with a willfully ignored awareness that that's not really a good basis for relationship and in the end one of them will fail the other one

i think it means that there a bad people in the world and they can be anywhere sp be careful

I think it's about being Protective of someone and telling them that someone could hurt them, but then again that you could be that person, and you don't know who the enemy is? That make sense :L Sorry if it didn't. Like loving someone so much that you feel you have to protect them.

I think they're just saying "I love you, and I'll watch your back. No one else will hurt you as long as you're with me, but I may turn out to be the enemy as well. Watch your back." Some people just have bad luck in relationships and always end up hurting people they love for some reason. They try to warn them away but they stay and in the end they end up being hurt. So the next time they try again to warn them away because they care about them. I think they're also saying they're both young and stupid and likely to hurt each other; they both want adventure and danger for excitement, and things got out of hand and now someone's bound to get hurt.
