If I Cut My Hair, Hawaii Will Sink

alixo15 sort of touched on what I was going to say, about the whole sex thing. I think this song is about a first time committing the deed. To me, the meaning of the song is similar to Sic Transit Gloria by Brand New. The speaker in this song is so incredibly awed by this girl that when things get heated between them he succumbs to temptation for the first time. Now my theory is that this girl is either not a virgin or doesn't care as deeply about the speaker as he cares about her. So she says thinks like I love you in the heat of the moment just to get things going (you simply say it because you like the way that it sounds).

Then I think it ends up turning into a routine event for them. The speaker begins to find out that the girl is only after the physical aspect of the relationship and doesn't feel as strongly as he does. He wants to just get away from her because it's tearing him apart, but the physical attraction keeps pulling him back in and he can't fight it (I feel weak, thrown in wide open spaces, etc...)

Oh, and one last thing, I think the "Sell it to me" part is the speaker cynically pointing out that he knows she's only pretending to care about him and putting on an act so she can still benefit from the physical part of their relationship.

That's my take on it. By the way, if people think it's so self explanitory, why not enlighten everyone as to your interpretation? This site was created so people could share their interpretations of songs, not so people could say, "Hey, I know what this song means. Figure it out for yourself."

I didn't say that to step on any toes, but I think it's more interesting when people share their thoughts, even if you think it's obvious what it means.

Well the song is pretty self explanatory...I love this new album! Every song is phenomenal! Chiodos are so incredible!

i'm guessing he's talkin about OCD, which may have been guessing the obvious

what ever happened to the chiodos that didn't believe in choruses? i mean, theyre still as equally an awesome band, but the fact that they were against the normality of it all just made it that much better.

the best song on BPB, imo but does ne one no what the tilte means? and it's weird that they have a song with hawaii and alaska in the titles

shot in the dark here.. but what i think this song sounds like to me is that craig, or whoever the guy is, is with this girl. the girl expresses that she loves him, but he's uncertain of her intentions, or of his own, and thinks that she's just saying it for the sake of wanted to be loved herself. ("you simply say it because you like the way that it sounds") with that, he feels uncomfortable with the situation.. which is what i think the "i feel weak" part of the song is. or it could be that he is so torn between believing that she loves him or not. dunno. but for the most part, the guy in this situation isn't sold on her proclaimed love for him, so he is very hesitant and refuses to believe her. and for the "fit to be tied" part? tied? married? ahha .. it's a stretch, but it sort of makes sense i suppose. so all-in-all .. i'm thinking of a very unstable relationship in this song. i could be very wrong, but whatever.

this song is one of the stand outs on BPB for me i love the 'fit to be free' part at the begining. just amazing, gave me goosebumps the first time i heard it!!
