Hook Me Up Lyrics

I'm tired of my life
I feel so in-between
I'm sick of all my friends
Girls can be so mean
I feel like throwin' out everything I wear
I'm startin' over new
'Cause I'm not even there

Sometimes I wanna get away some place
But I don't wanna stay too long
Sometimes I want a brand new day
Try to fit in where I don't belong

Hook, hook me up
I wanna feel the rain in my hair
Hook, hook me up
Where should we go?
I don't even care
Anywhere is good enough
Hook me up
Hook me up

I like the lights turned out
The sound of closing doors
I'm not like other girls
Who always feel so sure of everything they are
Of what they're gonna be
Sometimes I'm just a girl stuck inside of me

Sometimes I wanna disappear some place
But I don't wanna stay too long
Sometimes I'm feelin' so alone
Tryin' to fit in where I don't belong

Hook, hook me up
I wanna feel the rain in my hair
Hook, hook me up
Where should we go?
I don't even care
Anywhere is good enough
Hook me up
Hook me up
Anywhere is good enough
Hook me up
Hook me up

They're gonna crash and burn
I'm gonna find a way
Nothin' left to say

Hook, hook me up
I wanna feel the rain in my hair
Hook, hook me up
Where should we go?
I don't even care (x2)

Anywhere is good enough
Hook me up
Hook me up
Hook me up

I get the drug interpretation, but that's not how I interpret this song. She's sick of her life, she's bored, in a rut. She wants fun, something different and outside the normal for her, but she doesn't want to permanently turn into somebody/something else. She wants to embrace being out of her element for a little while because she's sick of feeling trapped. She doesn't care where she goes, what she does, or who she's with, she just wants excitement.

I reckon this song takes a bit of getting used to, since its pretty different from the veronicas old cd, but once ya listen to it a few times its actually pretty good. And one of them has dyed their hair blonde.. pretty different :P As for the meaning... i think it's kinda about freedom and just getting out of somewhere. Pretty cool, can't wait for the whole new album -hayles-

Just think its about breaking away, from the monotony of life and starting fresh. Maybe through the help of a guy. But then again has second thoughts and wants to return to her former life. Probably about the wild side of her. GREAT SONG!!!

I'm not a huge Veronicas fan but I admit this song is pretty damn catchy.

Also, is it just me or do they seem a bit TOO close for twins?

Good song either way.

in the video clip u see that it is about schools restricting romance and not letting boys and girls socialise and be friends but the words dont have much to with it

I think this song is about getting away from a place because it basically is very conformed and she feels like she is confined and cannot be herself. So basically she doesn't care where she goes, she just wants out of her current situation.

Drugs can be pretty liberateing, either as a rebellious thing or just to help you get away from whatevers going on. So reckon it could be about both. Freedom and drugs that is. Still can't imagine the Veronicas being drug addicts, to early in there career :P

This song is NOT about drugs. Go here: http://www.musicremedy.com/t/The_Veronicas/album/Hook_Me_Up-5052.html. They say in an interview that they use the phrase hook me up to mean "take me away from here, from reality and the stress of life.. an escape. just for a minute."
