He heard someone singing one of his songs on a street somewhere. Perhaps it was a song he wrote for her, this childhood love; so it brought him closer to her. It made him think of her, maybe this was his first love; maybe they have both moved away, maybe lost touch with each other, through things that happen in life. So now he's wondering if he goes back, or finds her again, will she be there, will she still have love for him, like he does for her, if she doesn't, he knows it's his fault; but inspite of it all, true happiness is being free. On the lyric sheet this song is dedicated for Nicole. So maybe she is the girl whose face he's always looking to see again.
