Ah no one's commented. I'll be first. In a nutshell, this song is about how after Nikki died (and came back) he finally realized that he wanted to be clean. And he's asking for God's help and "Permission" to do so.
It's also about the fact that even after getting clean, everything he does reminds him of his addiction. Even dying would be reminiscent of the heroin, because he has already died of an OD.
God, this song is so gorgeous. I think it might be about people he lost while he was addicted--relationships he totally squandered while feeding the drug habit.
This song is about trying to forgive yourself for having done ruin to your body...also asking "permission" to feel again.
Permission is a song about Sixx"s addiction, obviously. He is in the process of getting clean, in my eyes, during this song...
"All my devils are free at last, and all my secrets revealed"- He wrote "The Heroin Diaries" and everyone who read, and weighed in throughout the story knows his secrets. "And your permission is all I need to heal"- HEROIN is who he is asking for permission to heal. Not God, because at that point in his life, he didn't believe in a god
Take it for what it is, he's talking about his addiction and how it has affected those he loves, including himself. He could be talking about God, his girlfriend, wife, mother or father, those people that he has wronged. He is asking permission to heal, as if he is begging for reconcile to those he has wronged. He is serious about getting better, for himself and others. He is asking permission not for his drug addiction, but for those bad things that led to his addiction.
