Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
Possibly reading too much into it seeing as how there is only 5 repeated lines with a slight variation, but to me its about him not having much luck with relationships and them always ending and never lasting... maybe.
It's more about people slipping away in general, not just one specific person. Especially if you take 'you' as the plural form. Anyone who seems to be constantly rejected and keeps fucking up simple relationships and friendships can relate to this simple yet beautiful song.
this song is very sad. to me it seems as if he has been chasing the same girl for awhile and she never loves him back the way he loves her. or she is never really present in the relationship but he keeps holding on. then this probably has been repeated with several girlfriends who always take him for granted. very simple beautiful song.
I think I agree with this but it's about him not getting a chance from whatever it is he's chasing, it could be a girl or happiness as someone said earlier. "Oh please stay, just this once, anyway," give me a chance, it'll be worth your while

I don't necessarily agree with the idea that it's about love or relationships, but that it's more generally about any kind of continuity in life that eludes you. Then again, the fact that it can take on any meaning depending on the listener is the beauty of the song.

He's talking about a friend of his who is always running away from any kind of intimacy... whether it be friendship or a romantic relationship. This friend, well, he's a lot of fun -- a person so unique you know you'll never EVER meet a person like him in your life EVER again. He makes you fall in love with him, because he's just so different and cute, but then, like always, he runs away.
All my life
there you go
oh please stay
just this once
anyway.
Anyway, if you really want to know who they are talking about in this song, it's not too hard to figure out. The name is in the title, and you can look him up on youtube. Hint: He plays the accordion.
I think this song is about someone staying with him that always leaves, and when he starts to think about people leaving he realizes no one really stays.
"all my life there you go"
"all my life there they go"
Ok, to me it seems like the "all my life, there you go" is like he's saying all of my life I've been wandering around and wow I finally saw you. Like a love at first sight thing but he never actually talks to the person so hence the "please just stay"

Truly. I heard this song on NPR between stories recently. The song title is one of Josh's best friends from High School.
To me this stanza means "happiness" coming and going in your life.
All my life there you go oh please stay (happiness) just this once anyway.

Love Starfucker. Simple lyrics. Simple instrumentals. But it comes together as a smooth complexity.
whatevver this song means it's won my heart.
