An Epiphany Lyrics

when the world is in your arms
you try to pull it all apart
and keep the pieces not too far
we could wish upon a star
or dream of kisses in the dark
but then we'd wake to find our hearts
ooh, ooh

i have whispered in the wind
and tried to force it all to fit
into a lifeless silhouette
what the tree needs is the wind
and all a child wants is a kiss
to promise them that there's no mystery

[Chorus]:
we've got the motions down
and we all have the moon and the raining clouds
we need to realize that only love
will show us what we are all living for

beyond the moon and endless space
could there be a final place
to take us in with saving grace
of the past thats far from dead
and all the times that i have bled
i've found that hope is always left and shown me

[Chorus]:
we've got the motions down
and we all have the moon and the raining clouds
we need to realize that only love
will show us what we are all living for

i've seen the face of God inside the setting sun
in the dark to believe the things i've seen, it's so clear

we've got the motions down
and we all have the moon and the raining clouds
we've got the motions down
and we all have the moon and the raining clouds
we need to realize that only love
will show us what we are all living for

Truely an awesome song. I searched everywhere for the artist and song name, and finally I decided to give the radio station a little e-mail asking. They told me a tale of an awesome new band called the Send :). This song seems to be... well, lets analyze a little at a time, shall we?:

"when the world is in your arms you try to pull it all apart and keep the pieces not too far"

Not quite sure! Anyone else care to venture a guess?

"we could wish upon a star or dream of kisses in the dark but then we'd wake to find our hearts ooh, ooh"

First of all those "ooh"s are simply... beautifully sung. Secondly... maybe it means that you can want something with all your heart, but you'll realize that it's not what we necasarily need.

"beyond the moon and endless space could there be a final place to take us in with saving grace"

Could there be a 'heaven' out there, that could take pity on us and save us? Forgive us?

"of the past thats far from dead and all the times that i have bled i've found that hope is always left and shown me we've got the motions down and we all have the moon and the raining clouds"

We got through the darker emotions within us, and it won't help to see all the darkness that surrounds us (darkness being anger, saddness, hurt, etc. The ones that most people wouldn't want to go through). Hope is always there though which you can see because of the bad things that happen to us. Kind of a "shadow proves the sunshine" type of thing. There's no goo without evil, no evil without good.

"we need to realize that only love will show us what we are all living for"

Kind of self explanitory. Done!... what's that? I seem to have skipped some of the song in my analysis. Well, that was on purpose. Both parts have a beautiful and deep meaning.. which I'm sure I'm too naive at the momment to realize. So I'll just wait and see if anyone else knows what it means.

"I've awoke in the dark to believe the things I've seen It's all there"

Those are the correct lyrics for that last part, straight from the lyric booklet.

This song is like my life encapsulated. I used it as my senior memories 2 years ago.

VERSE 1: When you feel in control, you work hard to organize and keep everything in small enough portions so that you can handle it. We have these inner desires that end up not always in agreement with our hearts. This is partially because our longings are flighty, but also because we grow up and things change.

The whispering in the wind is a beautiful image that seems to point to Ecclesiastes where Solomon talks about the futility of chasing after the wind. In the same way, trying to pack everything into an empty shape is just as useless. Everyone needs certain things for comfort and growth - assurance that everything will be okay.

CHORUS: We're used to being humans - it's our instinct. We're also, in a way, in control of the universe - it's ours to explore. But ultimately Love determines our purpose in life.

VERSE 2: ...wondering if there's really a heaven/final destination/purpose. Recently, I've been through a lot of pain (much of it self-inflicted), but somehow, Hope as always survived.

BRIDGE: This part is especially incredible. I ALWAYS get goosebumps! I really have seen supernatural things and it's difficult to tell people about it because they never believe you. The lyrics are probably referring to figurative things (ie a sunset that is so breath-taking that God is CLEARLY "present" in it), but I really like the second part "I've awoke in the dark to believe the things I've seen - it's all there." I have seen demons several times in the dark and I FULLY believe that they were there. It's so hard to say that without getting skeptical looks and people nonchalantly thumbing through the DSM-IV, but I know that what I saw was real.
