Papyrus Containing The Spell To Preserve Its Possessor From Attacks From He Who Is In The Water Lyrics

Amun
Lord of the Gods
Thou who art of the Four Rams Heads upon thy Neck
Thou standest upon the spine of the crocodile fiends
To thine sides are the Dog Headed apes
The Transformed spirits of the Dawn

Drive away from me the Lions of The Wastes
the Crocodiles which come forth from the River
the Bite Of Poisonous reptiles
which crawl forth from their holes

Be driven back crocodile thou spawn of set
Move not by means of thy tail
Work not thy feet and legs
Open not thy mouth
Let the water which is before thee
Turn into a consuming fire

I possess the spell to
Preserve me from He Who is in the water

Thou whom the thirty seven Gods didst make
And whom the Serpent of Ra didst put in chains
Thou who wast fettered with links of iron
in the presence of Ra
Be driven back thou Spawn of Set

Drive away from me the Lions of the Wastes
the Crocodiles which come forth from the River
the bite of Poisonous reptiles
which crawl forth from their holes
The Command to release the Seals to bind his tomb

yeh it rocks, i love the chorus, but have no idea what it's on about since you could only get the liner notes in the special edition. Regarding speed tho, apparently George's bass drums hit 270BPM at one point :S

One of Nile's better arranged songs, like Lashed to the Slave Stick, Eat of the Dead and Chapter of Obeisance. All Classics...

It's an ancient spell for sailors, to keep away the crocodiles from attacking their boats, i think.

basically the egyptians were so relient on the nile that they would pray to various gods, such as sobek or like in this case amun, to protect them from crocidiles. These creatures were so hated infact they would be called spawn of set, the god of darkness among other things. This is basically a spell/incantation to unsurprisingly protect it's possessor from attacks of the crocodiles.

Hm. I believed prior to the previous comments that this song was some sort of conceit for the Cthulhu and its reptilian fish people that have attacked humans and converted them into what they are. But you guys sound to be more accurate. Nile does have a song based on the rising of Cthulhu, 'What May Safely Be Written'.

This song is extremely energetic and the chorus is very powerful; something you can feel, right?
